Well its Saturday again, which means cleaning day. I'm going to have a slow, easy morning and get stuck in this afternoon.
I need to meal plan, with me being home the grocery bill will be higher and there's only £87 left in the pot for the rest of the month. I have a £8 off £30 coupon for the supermarket DH works in, plus he gets 30% discount so I'm hoping I can get a decent amount for my money. I'm going to take the opportunity of being home for a few weeks to lose a bit of weight too.
I cashed out another £5.25 from Prolific last night, there's another £5 pending but studies have been really few and far between over the past few weeks. Hopefully it will pick back up after Easter break ends.
Let's talk YNAB......... I am loving it, my free trial comes to an end next week but I 100% think the £12.99 a month will pay for itself. I know there are other, free ways to budget but I've tried and failed at that in the past. I can see exactly what I'm spending my money on, whether I'm spending more on certain categories than I thought I was and I'm planning for future expenses. As you can probably tell, I'm sold!!
Tonight we go out for a meal with the in laws for 3 birthdays in the family. I did say we wouldn't go because of the bannister drama but the FIL says he's paying which I thought seemed silly when the reason we weren't going was because we owed him money. It turned out he hadn't told MIL that he asked us for the money and DH told her the reason why we weren't going out. It may have caused a few arguments....
Well time to start the day, have a lovely weekend everyone.2 -
Oh wow, I may have had a little too much to drink last night, I don't feel bad but I've certainly got no get up and go in me today. Luckily, I don't have too much to do today.
Yesterday I went grocery shopping, it seems like the first time I've had to do a big shop in a long while and I can see that while I'm not working away, I'm really going to have to up the grocery budget. I had 3 bags which did not seem like a lot at all, £75. Luckily I had an £8 off coupon and DH's 30% discount so it came in at £45. That's leaving just £39.28 in the grocery pot for the rest of the month. I'm thinking, anymore money that I cash out from Prolific may need to be added to this category or I could set myself a challenge to come in on budget. We definitely don't need anything till at least the 23rd. I may have actually talked myself into that challenge as I was typing.
I was also super duper organised and ordered all the Birthday Cards and Fathers Day Cards I need up to the end of August. There was a 50% off discount code so the cards worked out at £1.90 each which is cheaper than the supermarkets. I am known as the one that runs into the supermarket for a card on the same day I need it. Not anymore!!
I am going to try for a week of NSD's, I really can't think of anything I need, not even any petrol this week as I'm only working 20 mins away from home this week.
And another win, I owe £20 less than I thought to my previous employer, I started paying it back a month earlier than I thought.Total debt when my journey began in December 2022- £66,133.42

Morning, I think you can rise to that challenge on the food shop, we are a family of 3/4 depends if middle daughter is home and a dog I try and keep my shop under £65 a week I usually achieve this, we don’t eat a lot of meat mind and the amount prices have increased it’s definitely harder than it used to be, but I do a menu and stick to it so I think that helps, we take food from home to eat at work to stopped buying lunch at sandwich shops a while back now seen as I’m in minimum wage and a sandwich is now half an hours work!Well done on the cards very super organised. Also good luck on your NSD I always seem to miss things that o wasn’t expecting to come up like this week, inks ran out in the printer so that’s £15.90 I was not expecting!Have a brilliant Sunday xxPay off debt by Xmas 2023 #23My debt free diary https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6436651/clearing-my-debt-after-25-years#latest

I'm having the most unproductive day ever, although I have been sitting here reading diaries and getting inspiration. I saw some posts about snapping receipts, I used to do this years ago, I downloaded the apps again and found I am close to cashing out in one of them. I know I'll get fed up of this again eventually but I'll at least get that £10 voucher.Total debt when my journey began in December 2022- £66,133.42

What a day..... I made myself a salad to take to work last night and forgot to take it with me. Didn't take my purse as I had no intention of spending any money so I've gone all day without any food or drink. On the bright side, NSD no.2 is under my belt.
Nothing to report financially, the kitchen payment goes out the end of the week which will take me into the next £000 bracket (only another 59 of them to go).
I've just had a phone call off my dad while I've been typing, my uncle who's been in hospital a few weeks now has been taken into intensive care and is not expected to recover. My nan is 92 and we've been keeping how ill he is from her as it'll break her heart.Total debt when my journey began in December 2022- £66,133.42
