I had a faulty smart meter which they changed quickly enough and there was no hassle agreeing estimated usage with them, just a sensible discussion with a fair outcome. I also swapped between fixed direct debit and whole amount monthy painlessly and got a refund within a few days when asked. I know you and others have had far less positive experiences - hope you don't mind me posting this for a bit of balance. As far as the tariffs are concerned, when I've checked in the past it's generally been a question of EDF being best for high night time users and BG best for high day time users (until it gets to the point where single rate is better). Worth bearing in mind that the EPG has significantly changed the economics at the moment with some real bargains for high night time users - I bet it doesn't last though0

I don't suppose your two readings have got transposed have they, so that the day reading you give to the supplier is being billed as the night one? Can you give us the night readings from that bill, too please?

4,307kWh for an all-electric flat is incredibly low.
As pointed out above, almost all your usage is being charged on day rate. Did you have the NSH's and immersion on during the billing period you've quoted?
Either the readings are being logged against the wrong register, or there is a problem with the way your E7 circuit has been wired. What sort of meter do you have: clockwork switched, tele-switched, smart meter?
Don't make the mistake of thinking that register 1 is day and register 2 is night, it's often the other way around.
NB: you've been there a decade, so do your older bills reflect the same imbalance towards daytime consumption? If so, I'm afraid you have potentially wasted thousands in bills, unless it's a read error.Oh no that's exactly what I have providing from my meterregister 1 for day and register 2 for night! I'm not sure what I have...Its a clockwork in a glass dome and which has the day and night dials and this is attached to a small white box from EDF called multi rate single phase watt hour meter. it flashes with the 1 reading, then 2 reading then T for total

I've just calculated that from 1st Jan the threshold for E7 (Shell energy) has moved up to 41%. I currently run under floor heating, in three rooms, for a couple of hours just before E7 ends, as well as the dishwasher and washing machine, and this only gets me to 30%. I'm at a loss, unless you have a Tesla Powerwall (or similar) / EV, as to how anyone else can now make E7 work now. Surely with a (daytime) energy crisis in full swing tariffs should be encouraging people to move to E7, not push them away from it. I've been on E7 for as long as I can remember and am now investigating how to move to single rate. Hopefully it doesn't involve yet another meter swap and hopefully it's a simple process to return to E7 again when the tariff matches my needs.1

Hopefully it doesn't involve yet another meter swap and hopefully it's a simple process to return to E7 again when the tariff matches my needs.Different suppliers have different ratios of day to night use and it's a question of choosing the one that best meets your needs. Worth changing suppliers if you can get rates that are better for you.Because of the way that the Ofgem price cap and government EPG work together, there are some quite unusual rates for E7 at the moment with big swings in prices especially for those with either high night or high day (relatively!) usage. So far, as a very high night time user, I've done disproportionally well and I'm paying less now than I was a year ago, but and it's a big BUT, all that will change as the EPG changes and I'm expecting the situation to reverse with some alarmingly high % increases. Overall, it evens itself out but if, like me, you've done well so far it's important to remember the price increases will catch up with you with a vengence soon.
