Morning
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Very dark foggy chilly start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night chicken and rice (another use up from the freezer). I have chicken defrosted in fridge so will use that tonight to make something.
Half day today - have quite a bit to do so will try to get done as much as possible.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks - thanks for starting us off nmlc.My appointments went well yesterday, especially my audiology one. The new hearing aid is really comfortable, it's a moulded one so fits perfectly, and I can control it via an app so no more fiddling around. I'm under strict instructions to wear it all day every day. 😀
Today I'm heading down to Glasgow for a few days. This morning I've got a dental appointment to repair the hole in the tooth which happened last month. I'm setting off shortly so that I can take my time. It's -6° just now so I'll take another blanket and chocolate to top up the supplies.I hope that everyone is doing well, able to keep warm and safe. Happy Wednesday to all.12 -
Morning All
Cold and frosty again this morning, getting a bit fed up of de-icing the car every time I get in it!
Be careful driving Gers, it'll be lethal out there.
Hope your little one is home and recovering dp1, she's such a little star.
How was the panto Ruby? I enjoy a panto but haven't been for a couple of years, the local one isn't on this year.
Went up to clean the children's room last night and was on a roll so the front bedroom was done too, will pick another room tonight (I know how to live!).
Went shopping for the children's Christmas parties yesterday and got a good discount with my over 60's pass at Iceland with it being Tuesday. I had picked something up for myself and forgotten to pay for it so had to go back in and apologise!
Visited the school our HT is from yesterday to learn something new, really interesting and had a lovely warm welcome, I can see why she wants to go back. Our new HT is visiting today, hope he's good!
Thinking of all the poorlies - Mehefin have you turned a corner? Stay warm and safe, take care. XX11 -
Hi everyone,
I'm an early bird today, I didn't post yesterday because I collected Esther from Laura and was kept busy changing and feeding her. She's a hungry little thing so Laura is collecting lots of milk for us to feed her when needed. As a result she's growing like a weed and is no longer the tiny dot she was. I'll go and get her again when I've posted so that L can get some more sleep.
Esben was challenging last night not wanting to sleep - not helped I don't think by Brian losing his rag at him but I just bite my tongue and don't say anything. B was then in a mood and L said he was acting like a petulant teenager, it's not something I'm used to, we lose our tempers but don't sulk ( I used to try but would forget after a while and act normally). The penalties of family life I suppose.
Taff, I'm really enjoying your Christmas songs, thank you.
Gers, good luck at the dentist.
Have a good day - stay warm everyone.12 -
Morning folks and thanks nmlc. Brr we should be getting used to these near on Siberian conditions now but I for one am not! Currently -5 and not set to rise above -1. I think this frozen snow is going to be a permanent feature soon.
I managed to escape unscathed yesterday when meeting BFF. My trusty stick came with me. It ended up very busy yesterday with lots of new faces around. It's usually the same folk week on week. I suppose old friends meeting up for a Christmas drink. I expect it busier than ever next Tuesday. We enjoyed a lovely lunch near a roaring fire and chatted for England as usual.
No plans today but there are always jobs waiting in the wings and I seem to have a backlog of carrots and a sad swede so may make some carrot and swede mash to freeze in portions. Some got used up soup making yesterday. Waste not want not.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and fed up. DP1 I hope your DGD got discharged. Thinking of POPPY. Take care you who are driving in this stuff . xx

Morning everyone and thanks for the thread nmlc x
Drive carefully @Gers and hope the dental appointment goes okay.
Must be difficult with a busy household @snoozer - hope today is a bit calmer
I am WFH again today as no trains, but boss has intimated that she'd like me in the office tomorrow. Will make an attempt but expect the trains will be challenging. Am having the last of my HM BNS soup for lunch and we have pork Szechuan with noodles for dinner. DD said last night that both her and DS2 are back for 7 weeks in total! Hadn't factored that into my finances so will need to up the food budget!
I have some cards to write for the neighbours plus need to continue wrapping gifts. I have 30 rows left plus 4 borders on DS2's crochet blanket. At least it keeps me warm whilst watching TV! We too are watching Stripe @Gers - so good.
Have a good day everyone and sending hugs and warm wishes to our poorlies.
Thinking of you @poppy811 x

Cold here and a sharp frost but still no snowthink I will move in with Nels as she always gets a lot more than us
The panto was brilliant yesterday a lot of clients from my ex work were there so it was nice to see them, my clients loved it and we all joined in the dancing etc, one of my people really got in to it, and was shouting 'he's behind you' with great gusto !! I will take them next year as well such a nice day out.
Two lads today and due to the train strike one of them cant get to me so we are going to his town and will go bowling and have lunch out, Ive eaten out every day this week which is not good for my diet, but its there Xmas treat and they love it !
Dinner tonight will be spag bol which I will make this morning and will then just heat through tonight and cook the spaghetti.
Have good days all and take care in the icy conditions xxxx12 -
Good morning, it's the usual freezing white world out there. We didn't venture out to the quiz last night, I don't suppose the others did either.Dh is taking me to a shopping centre about 4 miles away to pay in some money into a designated bank, the branch here closed back in the summer. Normally I would just get the bus over but he'll take me today.Hope Esben settled eventually Snoozer.Glad you enjoyed your day out TA.I hope you find your new hearing aid helpful Gers, i wouldn't be without mine now. Gan canny on your trip to Glasgow.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, thinking of our poorly and sad people.Take care folks.13

Good morning, can I join in please!
It's cold & snowy here, I'm hoping the roads aren't too bad as I need to go food shopping.
We are out of milk, and I can't survive a day without a cup of tea. Also out of bread, butter and a whole host of things.
Dinner for tonight is already planned. We are having bangers & mash because I need to use up the potatoes before they go bad.
The heating has been on for an hour and a half and is now off for most of the day.
It's only 1 week until I start my budget for 2023, how did that come around so quickly? My budget is from the 21st-20th of each month.

Morning all its super chilly today i think its the wind yesterday wasn't too bad just cold. We still have the white stuff and our road is a skating rink . I am going to take a walk up to town to get a few bits i was thinking of taking the car but as its an automatic and the drive is icy i think i will leave it where it is . My eye is still swollen so may pop into the chemist its not painful so i dont want to bother the doc with it when there are so many really poorly people about hopefully it will be a quick fix. Not sure what's for tea will brave going down to the garage freezer in a bit

Morning! Double brr this morning, been out to fetch the recycle boxes in and due a wood delivery this morning so I'm up and at 'em in case they come early. I need to move my car but there's nowhere to move it to for now. The seagulls are flying in the street at the moment so there must be something there. Stuck the webbing to the carpet last night, burned myself on the glue a few times but it's done, however inexpertly, and it looks good if you don't look closely at the corners
Todays jobs are rewax the chest of drawers upstairs and put handles on it so I can finally shut the drawers, sew two cushion covers together to make one big cushion and sew a bit of elastic to make something to keep the door to the lean from swinging open. Oh, and stack wood. That should be enough I think. Also want to go and get some shopping bits, like toilet paper, so I might scoot there after I take OH to work.
Nels, hope your plumber turned up..if not, can one of your neighbours do it? nanny, glad you're over the unpleasantness...and your dad has a new hearing aid. Gers, good to hear you've got one too, drive safe...Rosy, hope your deliverer didn't get stuck! Random, welcome! Scarlet, hapy shoping! Yes, banks are becoming more and more like hens teeth all the time. Ruby, enjoy bowling and lunching out, as you say, it is that time of year..Coxy, another Strike fan, I re-read the books not long ago. TA, hopefully it#ll warm up at the weekend for you. snoozer, sulking is the one thing that really winds me up. It's for children ,not adults who can use words. camelot, you're on a roll! Take care all, wrap up, drink Baileys or something hot toddy-ish, shout out to the unwell...

Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love
Oh morning stars together, proclaim thy holy birth.
And praises sing to God the king, and peace to men on earth.
Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
