8 more books to the charity shop today. Small steps add up to big progress over time. I've just got to keep going.

I knew from past years that this thread would move fast, but this year’s decluttering so far seems to be phenomenal. I haven’t read through everything, but well done, I’ll try to catch up even by skimming. I’m back at work, so decluttering here has slowed down. But I did pull out 6 recipe booklets from a shelf in the kitchen. They had been on the shelf since they fell out of newspapers, about 10 years ago. Not used, so out they went into the recycling at long last.19

Evening all
Being back at works a bit annoying, going to be even worse next week when I have to work 5 days in a row!
Managed to shred 39 pieces of paper work and recycled 3 pieces, about a third of the way through the first box.
Non much, but something, and something everyday I hope, thanks to this thread!
At the weekend, when i have more time, I hope to declutter more than just paperwork
Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can

@-taff thanks, I will be keeping plenty of letters and diaries from my mum for the grandchildren and will at some stage scan some. There are diaries of nursing in the war and being a social worker in the east end and other places post war, as well as going to hear politicians in rallies on hampstead heath and tea at Lyons corner house.
8 big parcel of sale items delivered and now returned to Mssrs M/S.
9 out of date food
calls to broadband and bank made but no answer /diconnected after 30 mins so will add to list tomorrow when I have the day off.
To do list getting longer, blood test and carpet quote happening tomorrow, hope to get my nos up.
Mrs SD I like the image of DD2 on the naughty step, she's way taller than me and brought a smile remembering when she was small.16 -
Back in this evening for an update. So all jobs for inlaws cruise mostly done except the NHS App will not accept FiL photo of his passport so no covid certificate. They both did their tests this morning. Both negative). I did get them to photograph the test with a picture of the box their date of birth and date of test in case they are asked.
I dropped MiL into town to get her hair done and after popped into my allotment. I can't have been for a month but luckily it seems about the same.
On the way home I picked up some birthday cards and got the printing done at the library.
Afterwards three bags of clothes and shoes dropped to the refugee project, a bag of stuff for MiL to take dropped to them along with their paper work all put in a folder in order. Suitcases labelled and final checks that passports and cash all are safe. Will do it again in the morning.
We are leaving Derby at 07.30 in the hope of reaching their boarding time in Southampton between 11 and 12 am.
In between times DH and I put together the unit we took out of the loft last week. Some bits missing weirdly so it doesn't have its draw at the botton. DS3 came to help move the porch shelves upstairs and place the 'new' unit in it space. The porch looks huge now.
The shelves have a new home but are not in place yet. I have some more furniture moving to do but it won't be until later next week as I have too much going on in between.
Took DS3 for his weekly shop and helped him send some documents by email He is looking at doing some training on fork lifts and diggers. I will keep well away.
Loving the fantastic work everyone is doing but don't worry if you aren't as energetic. You will get there in the end. Big hugs to all who need them. See you in a few days everyone.

I went to lock up at my SA corps and there were big bags of donations outside the building - we brought them in and sorted into recycling and keep. So sad - looks like an elderly gentleman died before Christmas as there was a new with tags festive jumper among the clothes. All his clothes were there in bags - shoes, caps, braces, shirts etc- Mr F said - this is what will happen with my clothes. I suppose it comes to us all - who will want what we wear.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hi EveryoneHappy New Year and happy decluttering for 2023.Please may I join you this year? I was doing well at the beginning of last year but fell off the wagon in July and would like to get back on again. My aim would be to finish off last year's total and also get rid of 2023 things for this year. This would include things from our home and also things from my late grandmother-in-laws house. My method of recording is to divide up the year's items into each month and tick them off on my printed sheets. I will also be aiming to update my monthly total at the end of each month. It's been lovely to catch up with people's posts so far and I'm looking forward to reading about your decluttering journeys.Thank you x19

@florenceem agree with EnergyShifter how poignant the story of the donation. Does make you think what will happen to our things, and a reminder that I should ensure my dad's things are enjoyed or used. I just don't want to be buried under them or spend all my years sorting things out and not living !17

Evening. Not much happening here again today. DD1 came this afternoon and I've realised the house is no longer baby proof. GD is 9 months and walking and makes a beeline for all the plug sockets. Need to rearrange a bit of furniture tomorrow to deter her.
I did get some small boxes for under the sink. We seem to have a but of a leak in there so wet black sponges/clothes thrown. Some dried out cleaning wipes, a metal dishwasher tablet tin that had rusted to the bottom of the cupboard... Still need to go through everything else in there but I can now see I have about 10 different cleaners, probably 20 different air/fabric fresheners....
Now in bed watching the syndicate, I can only dream about winning the lottery, I don't even play it.
