Some maintenance decluttering over the past couple of weeks.
2 dresses plus one gym top - binned. Worn to death and no longer in a good enough state.
A few bits to charity, including some board games. Binned - 1 chess set bought in Italy, but when we got home half the pieces were missing 😞 bearing in mind this holiday was 7 years ago, I'm really not sure why I kept it...
Cloud the cat has also decluttered one of my succulents - jumped up on to the counter top and launched himself before I realised, shooting the chopping board and poor plant onto the floor.
Dad lent some wood glue to fix the chopping board, but the succulent was decapitated so no saving 🥺
Candles are back down to a reasonable level, and operation clear the condiments is well underway.
Have also spent last weekend doing various cleaning and tidying after spending some time in the TLC carriage due to feeling under the weather. Although it seems to build up quickly, it's also quite quick to clear away because everything has somewhere to go.16 -

Just popping in to say Thank you for all the comments on my previous post, I really appreciated them all.
@floss - no problem, it was important and relevant to highlight the correct disposal of medications, thank you 😊
@GrannyKate - the sieve, whisk and rolling pin sound like treasures to me 😊There is something lovely about looking at or using things that have that kind of family history. Wedding presents tend to have a good amount of longevity and I have many from my first and second marriages. I have decided that where there is no sentimental attachment with the giver then I am moving those from the first marriage on.
@vulpix- I’m glad Mr V was able to help you to let go and almost enjoy spending a little on yourself. Making the pennies stretch can run very deep sometimes! I have made a lot of curtains and also had to take up a few. They are often heavy and hard work to make and I am sure yours will be fabulous. Well done for moving on the excess fabric, I have loads of those kind of off cuts! I think sharing here about your mother is a good thing- many readers will be able to relate I am sure.
@daisy_1571 - thank you, that’s a very good way of looking at it, as realistically, we are better off than we have been at times.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - thank you for my ⭐️and🏅now I definitely need a signature! I am absolutely loving the tranquil bedroom 😊The bureau desk of doom will definitely be going eventually as Mr MV is coming on board with the concept of reducing what we have. “It keeps us stuck in the past.”, he said! 👏 I do think that your idea of a book is a very good one as there isn’t much out there regarding the lived and felt experience of decluttering when someone has amassed too much stuff. Or the experiences and feelings that led up to this. Whether it is ourselves or others. I certainly find all the thoughts and observations that are made in this thread very interesting and helpful to read. Cracking work on your food cubbyholes and dining room 👏 and of course on your amazing cheerleading! Mr SD is doing so well with his walks 👏
@Liverpool_Anne - it is very satisfying when you find that you do have enough of something and don’t need to buy any more. I generally relegate threadbare things and items with holes for gardening use, often mending or patching. It’s not always a decent look though on a woman my age🫣 so I am planning to get a bit more ruthless and put them in the rag bag. Having said that, I am currently struggling over letting go of a longish and mothholed angora jumper which is quite handy for keeping my lower back warm when digging. There’s no helping me sometimes 😂
Yesterday I got rid of a pair of disintegrating clogs and boots in a similar state. They have been mouldering out in the garage for a good ten years. Not sure what I will get done today as I will have visitors and I need to work out what to make for them.
Sorry to read about your lost shopping Dfw38. It reminded me though of ‘losing’ a favourite jacket at a charity fundraising event - struck me as quite incongruous! I could only hope that the new owner needed it more than I did!
Happy Wednesday sorting to everyone.

Thank you @vulpix you are very kind to say that.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger I second what Liverpool Anne has said about replying to posts and take care of yourself.
Thatvis my view as well @moorviews, hopefully they will end up with someone who really needs them/needs a boost because they are having a rotten time.
Right first mmim done: snack drawers organised although I fancy some containers to organise properly but will have to have a think on sizes etc. The second picture is the pack lunch snacks- separate drawer in the hope that the dc don't work there way through them at the weekends resulting in mad panic when I realise the cupboards are bare!2024 decluttering Campaign

Also just finished my first 'make things in March'. Coloured in a unicorn canvas for dds bedroom. Looked at getting a print of a unicorn for a frame but they were silly money so got a canvas at hobbycraft for a couple of pounds and coloured it myself. Was surprisingly relaxing! Got 3 more canvasses to do for dcs bedrooms and hopefully by the time I have finished them my sewing machine lead will be found because I am chomping at the bit to get sewing again!2024 decluttering Campaign

I have succeeded in tackling a froglet! I have reconnected the printer to the internet so it can tell HP that it’s low on ink and they can send me new ink cartridges. We don’t do a lot of printing at home so each month when I’m reminded to reconnect it I forget.Feeling quite proud of myself for tackling that when the reminder email came today. @Dfw38 I'm loving the #snackdrawerporn photos
I do like it when the drawers have space and aren't too overcrowded. That's my ultimate aim in my house so I am relaxed and happy every time I open a drawer or cupboard. It's a bit of a moving target with kids, but if the majority is like that then I'll consider myself to be there.
Also fab idea to buy a canvas and colour it yourself. My parents always had an attitude of if you might need something then just go online or to a shop and get it (probably reflects the 1990's attitudes onwards). I much prefer finding other ways to do it where you aren't always needlessly purchasing or doing it a clever way. I think you'll get more satisfaction seeing it on the wall knowing that you coloured it yourself than having clicked a button.2025 decluttering: 5,050 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 362🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Mini freezer challenge +4/-20Big kitchen declutter challenge 120/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 50018 -

I just watched Joshua Becker on u tube, I was so motivated I have bagged up2 x duvet sets ,3 pairs of curtains plus 2 cushion covers that match 1 pair.6 tops 2 shirts.
A foot massager, a facial brush, and eye mask in a toiletry bag..
I also threw away a pile of cats toys, and a scratcher. Donated a huge bag of cat litter. It has sat unopened for 8 years!
4 Tupperware pots.
connectors for the phone line plus an extension for a phone line, from when we first had a computer. I hadn’t realized they were still there, they are the things I never know what they are for so I keep them, but realized if they weren’t used I obviously didn’t need them. Also if I did need one I wouldn’t have known I had 1 , or known where it was so would have bought another!!I intend to do another pass on the garage when it warms up a bit, as there are things I can get rid of, even things that I use sporadically as I can always borrow the item.
Mrs Sd I have olive tree envy. A magnificent specimen.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.18 -
Love the drawers, dfw38, especially the last one. Clever you to colour the canvases yourself, MSE and relaxation- that’s what I call style!
im still plodding along here decluttering bit by bit and will post soon. Hugs, everyone, and keep safe.16
