  • You could always contact Chase. Explain the situation to them & they should be able to free up the available funds. Now this does not cancel the authorisation & it can still debit. Which they should warn you about.
    But at least it is not tying up your funds.
    They won’t do that as they do not allow overdraft so if you use the funds there would no be fall back..

    another thing though: can you check the POS receipt of when you have processed the pre-auth? Some time it prints the full card details (it did so in Bulgaria for me and confirmed the card number was different than the one on the app).

    Authorisation timescales are down to Visa/Mastercard. But Car Hire & Hotels have a 32 day period, instead of the usual 14 day period.
