Yes, I’m thinking of offering this as a last resort if they threaten to pull out, but didn’t want to offer it straight away as my EA reckoned they’d just ask for more.1 -

Just to be clear though - does the property have a damp problem (peeling wallpaper/paint, damp musty smell, mould etc, or is this simply a reading from a so-called 'damp meter'?
And if there is damp, caused by what and what is the £5K work for? Injecting a chemical dpc? Lowering the external ground level....?
........ it’s also including things where there’s no visible damp. It’s saying a cdm3 tanking system and replastering to 1.5m around chimney breasts.....0 -
The buyer is playing a risky strategy. If they pull out the estate agent will treat them with caution in future, they could lose a future purchase to a more reliable buyer, the EA would be less inclined to go the extra mile for them in future.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I doubt the EA cares that much, quite a few have gone bust by now I should think, they will deal with anyone to keep trading.0

Seems highly unlikely.6 -

Update. Buyers have completely dropped their demands for £15k off my property. If anyone in the future reads this, don't believe what you've already read about Gazundering, you're not in as bad a position as its made out. Say no in the first instance.17

I'm very glad to hear it, Happy Christmas!
On reflection, I should have stood up to my buyer's demands and stuck it out, but his behaviour was so obnoxious I just couldn't deal with him anymore. I also suspected he'd 'gazunder' before exchange. I bumped into his surveyor when he was surveying my house for an auction viewer, and he told me how 'keen' his client had been. When I sold to the same obnoxious person at auction the day after the auction, he firstly asked if his deposit could be refunded, then refused to sign until he'd passed it to his underwriters. I had to wait five days, he got the last word unfortunately.£216 saved 24 October 20141 -
Good news. And the last thing I would have ever compromised on would be scam work, sorry damp work.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
