Amex direct debits are usually a day or two later than it says on the statement.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Amex direct debits are usually a day or two later than it says on the statement.
'Usually' is debatable. First direct debit (DD) for this card was debited on the exact date. The second DD is the one that didn't debit on the exact date.

For my other amex card (the reward one, not the closed platinum cashback one), the previous two DD's were both deducted from current account on exact date as the shown on amex statement.
The confusion (as witnessed by the threads on this forum) can be prevented by a simple addition to the statement. Other businesses are already doing it. The change is to add '£[amount] will be taken on or immediately after [date]. Instead the amex statement says 'Direct Debit Date' then specifies the exact date.
They even say at the bottom of the statement "Direct Debit - Payment will be collected from your bank account on the due date listed on the front of the statement....". There is no indication that it may be immediately after.
