Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

"We recommend putting your direct debit to £300 a month"
Actual bill £175 for electric and er standing charge only for gas so around £30
Erm don't think so thank you Mr Shell. I pay for what I use not what you think I should be using
Oh and I am the only wage earner in the house so just going with their suggested direct debit isn't an option
If you are happy to pay very high bills over the next few months rather than having a level monthly payment then that is your decision.
As you appear not to have provided any usage information in kWh/year (along with your credit/debit balance) then it is impossible to know whether Shell is being unreasonable or not.0 -

You will pay for exactly what you use each month, no estimation (as long as you give meter readings).
If you do, please don't return in February with "Shell have sent me a massive bill for January, is this legal?"2
