Haha, I thought that when i read it, though think we need a photo to decide if we would swipe right or not. :D
Though i only know  that because my son couldn't stop laughing  as his dad (my husband) wore a T-shirt that said "Swipe Right" on holiday a couple of years ago.  My husband and I didn't have a clue that's what it meant, least ways that what he told me :D:D

If your husband is happy to wear T-shirts with Internet memes on them with no idea what they mean, he got off lightly with "Swipe Right".

I read meters for a living. I visit all postcodes and cover all income brackets. It’s a real cross section of pensioners.

Is it possible that all tall elderly men don’t answer the door or are out when I visit, then yes of course it is. Just how realistic this is of happening I am not convinced.
Maybe tall elderly men just open their hallway cupboard and read their own meters, while normal-sized ones don't want to wobble about on a chair in their hallway.

I dont think he would even know what you meant by the term Internet meme now, 5 years later, so goodness knows what he may wear in future :D     As long as he can play his online Scrabble and scroll the news that is as tech savvy as he wants to be.

Just beware of any fruit and veg on a T-Shirt, that is risky territory for the non emoji literate.

Or it could just be because men have got taller in recent decades, so someone born in the 1940's would on average be shorter in adulthood than someone born in the 1980's, plus people lose height as they age (something like half an inch per decade over 40) so those two factors combined would probably mean the average 80 year old is noticeably shorter than the average 40 year old. This could be even more significant at the far ends of the bell curve.
I had a look for evidence of correlation between height and longevity but the only studies which seem to show a link seem to be with elite sportsmen - and it does seem to be a significant link there. But they live their lives completely differently to most people in terms of physical activity, diet etc, possibly even performance enhancing drugs before they started widescale testing so not sure if they'd be representative of ordinary people? If there was a link surely actuaries would have spotted it and used height as a criteria for life insurance, annuities etc.

A recently-shared Aviva life expectancy calculator included reference to height, although also weight, so was perhaps only considering it in terms of the relationship between the two, regarding obesity, etc:
