Driving at night does everyone find it hard

I find it hard driving at night because you can see a lot less for best headlights from Halfords they don’t make a difrence

Any better headlights I can get?

How can I improve is it just about practice, which I have done as driven at night lots

One of the  hardest things I find is when there’s  street full of Parkerd  car you have to drive past what if a pedestrian opens their door or comes out in beetween cars.

I assume most people would check.

A lot of times when I during the drive or when I get home I get anxiety thinking what if someone walked out, I would have missed it, or did I hit someone and not notice., but that’s impossible as I would feel it.

Is this anxiety normal with other drivers here?

I don't get anxious but it is harder as you get older for me anyway, I'm 82 and a good driver but I go out less when it's dark and drive slower.  I think it's the changing light, other headlights, street lights, concentrating more on parked cars, on the lookout for bikes with no lights. I make a point of not being out when it's dark.
  • I use glasses for driving at night and have found them beneficial, but I have just purchased a new to me car that has LED headlights and these light up the road far more than my old halogen lights.

    Hi

We have cars with LED headlights all round etc makes a big difference they tunr as you corner as well.
however, I've found it really hard at night especially in rain and new roads and where there hardly any markings and headlights in your eyes.

But the LEDS on the cars we have and the main one is a suv so higher up easier to see

I've complained to the opticians about this for over two yrs and they say my eyes are pretty good for my age I wear glasses when out and have anti-glare

In new areas I drive even slower and even more alret and esnure all my windows etc all round are as clear as possilby and use washes on my headlights to keep clean

Sadly, too many people, ush bike riders with no lights and pedsertains weari

Yes, agreed, I had a c-lass my first car with LEDS all round, vast improvement but the gls - even a bigger improvement.

From what people tell me, most will have night time difficulty and worse in rain and areas new to you

    :)

Weirdly i find it easier to drive on unlit roads than lit ones as i find the contrast better and i find street lights distracting.
Live in rural Lincolnshire where most roads around me are unlit and quite narrow and on unlit roads you are able to see oncoming traffic much better.

No, other than the deer running across the road are harder to spot

When I first got my Seat Mii I did find the headlights a bit dim. I replaced the bulbs with, I think, Osram Nightbreaker Plus - it noticeably improved them.

    Hi

True to an extent as long as no lights dazzling you and road markings like new as well as cats eys

Light in London in parts are newer LEDS I thing they give a good road light and no dazzle they work good.

    Thanks

Absolutely - much worse in rain for me. On country roads I have to drive at about 10mph - I just can't see if there are cars coming the other way.

Some theory here about why it happens. I'm not sure how the night vision over-glasses work, but hubby and I both find they work brilliantly.

    Hi

I avoid and often out with one of our children and their family they drive.

As I said the opticians state my sight is very good with glasses, short-sighted.

    Thanks
