Euro car parks fine. Help!

Hello, I’m new here so apologies if this has been asked before.
I’ve just today received 2 letters from Euro car Parks, one being an initial notification (dated November) and the other being a final notification letter (and an increase in fine, dated December). Both letters are addressed to my previous address. As both letters were posted out to the wrong address the “fine” has now increased to £70. As I didn’t have any opportunity to pay the lesser amount because I was unaware of it, is this any grounds for complaint? The letter also states that they got my address details from the DVLA, which isn’t accurate because the DVLA have my current address and my driving license is up to date too.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated:)
thanks

    Hello and welcome.

Check that your vehicle's Registration Document(V5c) has the correct keeper's address on it.
That is where they got your address from.

That can be updated online. Best do that now.

The up to datedness of your driving licence is irrelevant, the key document is the V5C aka log book, if you change address you need to update both
Private parking company's  that belong to so called accredited trade associations can access the DVLAs registered keeper data base this is the address on your V5C , this will also usually be the same adddress that tax reminders etc are sent to.

Another thing is that this is not a "fine" or a penalty or anything else like that, and while it may seem petty its an important distinction , and the lesser amount is no more than a con - i would put the fact that you ddint feel compelled to pay this lesser amount down to a lucky escape.

First things first, at this stage you are under no obligation to guess as to the drivers identity on that day,  you are the registered keeper, and the driver could have been another person. keeping the RK and the driver at the time of parking as separate entities is important

    Next up:
    Whos car park was this?
     where was this? a
nd if you know, why did the vehicle attract a parking charge notice from the parking company (PPC)?

And if you havent already please read the newbies

Don't pay it, by the way!

Your error in not updating your logbook - put that right now, with the DVLA online, AND with Euro Car Parks too - but that doesn't mean you pay.  The discount was always just a bribe not to appeal.

Obviously PLAN A in the NEWBIES thread is your first step as well as the urgent address updating.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • @Half_wayit was my car, it was parked on a retail park in bolton. I’d parked on sainsburys car park and later moved my car to tk maxx (shopping in both shops). I thought the sainsburys car park was separate to the rest, as it’s on the other side of a roundabout. In total I was parked there for longer than allowed. I was there for just under 3 and a half hours and they say only 3 hours is allowed. My cousin also parked here for longer but she hasn’t had any letters through.
In terms of not paying the fine, do I just ignore it or do I need to appeal it?
Thanks for everyone’s help so far and I’ve sorted the logbook now too

Once again totally inadequate signage in fact it is misleading Sainsburys actually have a sign telling you when you go in when you must leave by but you would not think that related to the retail park only their section. However the ANPR cameras are pointing at the shared entrance.
There are no signs at all on the entrance saying anything and certainly no compliance with BPA COP a trap if ever there was one.
The entrance on GSV is bang up to date:

The NEWBIES thread tells you what to do first as PLAN A . Tell us when it works.

Oh dear. Cousin's logbook also not updated?

My relatives have had one here.  Emal to CEO of Sainsburys together with receipts got a four hour stay cancelled.
  • @DW190 I emailed sainsburys CEO and they basically told me it wasn’t there problem.
  • Sorry *their problem
