How fast does your house cool down ?

Don't know what it is in 5 hours but overnight mine dropped from 18C to 14.5C last night & it took over 2 hours to get back up to 17.5C before I went out today. My house has external cladding, but I'm not convinced there is any insulation in it! I shudder to think how cold the houses here that haven't had the external cladding done must be. I need new radiators to try to get the house to heat up more quickly, but am unsure of how worth the cost I've been quoted of £800 is worth it when it cools so much when heating is off.
My heated throw is already proving to be a big help.0 -

The greater the difference, the greater the rate of heat loss.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
I'm in a 2014 south facing second floor flat. Indoor temp is still 21C despite not using the heating at all so far this winter. On a sunny day it goes up to 23C, then back down to 21C overnight. Not sure if the neighbours keep their flats at sauna temperatures, or the building is still holding warmth from the summer heatwave. Usually it's cooler by now.0

Too quickly to drop the temperature and too slowly to heat up again. Yesterday’s stats - brrr.

The greater the difference, the greater the rate of heat loss.It also depends on the wind speed, and Britain is windier than lots of European countries. If you put your finger under a running cold water tap for a minute it will feel much colder than if you put your finger in a mug of cold water for a minute.0 -

Between midnight and 5am, our indoor temperature fell 1.7C (from 19.5C to 17.8C). No heating running during that time. Outside temperature was -3c. New 3-bed detached.
3 bed det. built 2021. 2 occupants at home all day. Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i combi boiler heating to 19-20C from 6am to midnight, setback to 17.5C overnight, connected in EMS mode to Tado smart modulating thermostat. Annual gas usage 6000kWh; electricity 2000kWh.0 -
Turns out last night would have an excellent night to check as I barely slept more than 30 mins. I could have checked the thermostat at 4am, had I had any wits about me.
One of these days I'll bring the thermometer up to my bedroom to see what temp it gets up to and how far it drops in the hours before I go to sleep. Would also be interesting to see what it gets back up to, with the door closed whilst the rest of the house starts heating up. (I do have a radiator, but my room almost always feels the coldest except in the blazing sunshine of a heatwave.)1 -
Well I happened to glance at the thermostat 5 mins ago, and it said 17.5℃. Bearing in mind heating is supposed keep it to 18℃ until 11pm. Well now, 11.20pm, it says 17℃! The thermometer concurs.1
