Hello, I have a Lpg which is used for my heating and hot water. Do you get an additional payment if you use this type of fuel? I get the £66 a month from my electricity supplier. When I spoke to Calor gas, they said it would come from my electricity provider. I spoke to British Gas who supply my electricity and they had no idea what I was talking about. I would be grateful if someone could put me straight on this.

It isn't a cost of living payment as I believe that is a specific term for a different government benefit.
There is the £200 grant for Alternative Fuels Payments scheme which you should be entitled to. It will be paid through your electricity supplier, but exactly how they will identify people and how they will do it has not been announced. January has been mooted as the likely time it may start.1 -

Call centre staff are trained to stick to script and are fed information from their employer that the employer wants them to know. The AFPS terms are not fully set yet. Little snippets have come out (such as being paid by electricity suppliers) but nothing official. Until that does, the electricity suppliers are unlikely to train their staff with the details.

The COL payment has nothing to do with LPG or electricity bills: it's for those on qualifying benefits or tax credits.
