I applied for an iweb account last week - I have received my login ID by email and a pin number by post - but I think I am supposed to also receive a password by post?  Can anyone confirm?  Or is the pin the password?
Meanwhile iweb are texting to me remind me to log in as I "should have received my password by now".
I also opened an iweb account last week. They posted the pin to me (says the pin is for when you call)  but I set up the password and some answers to security questions which I use to sign in.
So they didn't send you an initial temporary password to log in for the first time?  This is what their e-mail to me said would happen but I still have not received any temp password.
    No if I remember correctly.
They only gave me the username which I have changed.

Maybe reset the password by selecting forgotten password to reset.

You select the password you want.
Thanks - I called them - apparently i have to wait for the postal letter with password and as it has not arrived they have re-sent it today.  Weird that the process would be different for different people...

I had a telephone PIN by post, but the password was what I set when opening.

Others have had letters that I've not had.

It does seem oddly hit or miss .
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

I spoke to iWeb yesterday and they said that they never requested a cash transfer from Santander. They did say however that the wording in the letter they sent them might have confused them. They are going to contact them to try and get it sorted, have not got back to me yet. See what happens.

The letter they sent me mention's requesting a cash transfer, even payment by cheque. As I stated before, Santander had already sold the Fund in the ISA before I received the letter from iWeb.

    Hi @alewin

    Did this get resolved?

I found this on the iWeb page, and it reads to me (?) like they would effect the transfer and move the investment to the closest class of fund that they have,  so in my case with Rathbones from 'S' to 'I' ??

    Am I reading that right??

I'm a little concerned.    (sorry I'd been posting updates on the wrong thread)

Everything seemed to be going smoothly, finally, and the HSBC fund has transferred no problem 'in specie'

However, I've just received a letter from Fidelity that states that my Rathbones have been SOLD, and a cheque will be issued to my new provider!!!!

(didn't this happen to someone else? - outcome? - i'll keep looking). ETA, found you @alewin

The above paragraph definitely states that "your fund does not have to be sold as part of the transfer".

What's going on here.   Have they stuffed up?

I've just spoken to Fidelity and they've said that the instructions from iWeb, were to cash in the fund for transfer!!!  So they've just done as asked.

Will wait and see what funds/units actually get added to my iWeb account before I jump the gun and complain.

It may be that this is the way it needs to be done for a share class transfer, but the paragraph quoted (iweb) doesn't seem to support that that's how its supposed to work.

Once my account is up and running I will also be transferring from Fidelity - this information is helpful as I will check the share class and instruct Fidelity to transfer it myself to one that iweb offers before I request the transfer via iweb - hopefully this will prevent them cashing it in.

Talking of hit and miss service during transfers to iWeb.

We instructed DHs switch the other day (14th), and one of his funds is showing in iWeb already after only 3 days (17th)

It took mine from 6th Jan to 2nd Feb, to do same.    I think mine got lost down the back of iWeb's sofa!!!

Very odd, as we hold the same ISA's with the same funds and applied in exactly the same way as each other.

Really interested in how his share class transfer will be handled in respect of the other fund.    Might give me ammunition for a complaint, if it is handled differently (smoothly).    I'm keeping a timeline of what's happening to us both, for reference.

    Quite impressed with Iweb.

My transfer was initiated on Tuesday 14/02 and by today 17/02 transfer completed from Hargreaves Lansdown.

    Hi @alewin

    Did this get resolved?
    Hi there,

Yes finally got resolved in the end.
The cash from Santander finally appeared in my IWeb account a few days after their second letter stating that they are still waiting to hear from Santander regarding the Stocks transfer along with a valuation. This was at the end of January and when I phoned after that, they said not to touch it and raised a complaint for me.

Then in the course of just over a week they admitted it was their fault, had sent the wrong form to Santander.
They received the fund details from Santander along with the number of units and invested the cash back into the same fund. They bought back at a higher fund price than when it was sold but made a credit so I ended up with the same number of units, with no loss to me. Not sure how they achieved that but it worked out in the end and even paid some compensation direct to my bank account as well.

To IWeb's credit, when it became apparent what had happened, they were friendly (were friendly anyway) and professional to sort out and put me back in the same position with no loss.

Glad to hear it all worked out.

Fingers crossed, if they have messed mine up, they'll be able to put it right.

Maybe they sent Fidelity the wrong instruction too.  But one fund, HSBC has gone through fine.

I'm still at the wait and see stage.
