We have finally got the paperwork sorted out and nil VED has been applied.Thank you to all who replied.
The original Cert of Entitlement was on the reverse of the PIP award letter but it had a date that had expired. I missed reading it at the time anyway. My new one provided by DWP is for an indefinite period. New claimants should look out for this if they have use of a car.2 -

I very much doubt whether it is for an indefinite period - it will expire IF you ever lose your PIP.

That can't be correct. If you change your vehicle you need a new certificate of entitlement because you can only use it once.
