Help… British Gas has breached its fixed term contract with me
Options
Hi all, first post here… in may this year I entered into a fixed term contract with British Gas for gas and electricity until June 2023, yet despite this they have increased my tariffs twice since entering into the contract despite their website stating this won’t happen, and that is the rules
has anyone else had this…
I don’t think it’s lawful and am currently waiting for British Gas to respond but 8 weeks have gone by with nothing, no explanation or apology.
my next step will be ofgem but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else.

Your post says fixed term, not fixed price. What did your agreement actually say?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Have they increased your tariff (price/kWh or daily standing charge) or have they just increased your DD payment, which is not the tariff...Can you also tell us the name of the tariff you are on...0

Hi they have increased the unit price twice… they have also increased my direct debit twice despite being over £700 in credit… the last price increase just so happened to be exactly the same amount that the government has given households as a support.

The name of the tariff would be very helpful at this point...

Thanks for confirming the tariff name - 'Loyalty Jun23v1'.Can you look at your previous bills and tell us what the original kWh rates were and what they subsequently changed to please?Do note that you will see both an ex-VAT and inc. VAT rate on the bill so make sure you are not just seeing the VAT difference (5%)...0

As Alan59 is having a few issues with replies, here is the answer to my question...Alan59 said:The tariff was loyalty 23v1
when the contract was entered into the gas was 3.163,per KWh and the electricity 17.875 per kwh
changed to 10.026 Per KWh. (Gas)
34.678 per kWh ( electricity)
excluding VAT

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.1 -
