Ideal Boiler - Whining

Since we turned the heating on the ideal boiler icos HE24  it is producing a whining noise when only the heating comes on.  However, when running only the hot water no noise. Any ideas how to fix?

Ps Radiators bled no air.

  • I assume that it a ‘Y’ system. The first thing that I would look at is the diverter valve. Is the CH side restricted in any way? Put a screwdriver on the side of the valve and the other end to your ear and listen when someone switches the heating on and off. The screwdriver acts as a stethoscope.
  • I had a similar problem with my ex-wife, except that she used to make a whining noise when the heating went off.....
