Transferring data to new phone

With my current phone I got a kead in the bix that I olugged into the old phine and the bew one and it transferred all my contacts, texts etc across.

I'm considering getting the Galaxy A53, and I've had a look at what's in the box. It has a charging lead with two small ends. I don't think I could plug this in to any charger I have. Alsi, it doesn't have a data transfer lead 

How do I get my contacts from my old Galaxy S8 to the A53?

I'm hoping that you won't tell me to use bluetooth! I know I have this, but have no idea how to use it!

With Apple there's an app for that maybe there is with Samsung

I can't believe there are no Bluetooth video tutorials on YouTube.

If both phones are on Android, just sign into the same Google account on the new one.  Your contacts (if stored in your online account) should come down automatically.

As above Google does an admirable job with transferring your data.

Samsung Smart Switch app is your friend.

Your existing S8 & an A53 both use USB-C for charging i.e. your existing charger & lead will work with your new A53.
Pretty sure that it will be the same for data transfer.

yes if you are using Google Messages as your texter

I use the Samsung message app on my S7 and the Smart Switch app transferred everything fine from my S4 Mini.
Syncing to a Google account I think would only transfer messages if using Google Messenger as mentioned.

Transfers all of your call history and text messages to a file which you can then just put onto the new phone without uploading your entire history to Google's servers.
