Jet2

Hello

I wrote to Jet2 to request compensation for delayed flights, I also stated in the letter a reason for the delays.

I received a positive response stating that Jet2 would pay compensation at the applicable rate.

I have now been waiting 65 days for the compensation to arrive, the first letter from Jet2 stated ‘a few weeks’ to receive the money so after 3 weeks I wrote to them requesting a specific date and received a response stating ‘up to 60 days’ to receive the money

I am looking into making a money claim online but hoped somebody could help with the following questions I have please……

Before going to make a claim do I need a specific reason fo the delay as this was not provided by jet2, they just sent a letter to say they would pay the compensation.

As Jet2 have already agreed to pay me compensation is it okay to make a claim against them?

Do I need to write another letter to Jet2 before completing a money claim online (mcol)?

any help much appreciated.

If Jet2 accepted that they're due to pay compensation but haven't yet, then there's no need to revisit the underlying reason why that situation arose, but if you wish to pursue via MCOL or the courts, then you need to send them a Letter Before Action advising them that this is what you propose to do and giving them one last chance to stump up....

    Thanks for the response,

So just to confirm, I need to send a Letter Before Action even though I did this before they agreed to pay compensation?
  • Jet 2 says they will pay within 12 weeks though?
  • Not according to my information

Where did you get 12 weeks from? I haven’t seen this as a timeframe but I have seen others discussing a 21 day timeframe?

  • yes it does say 60 days on the jet 2 letter. The CAA told me i should wait 12 weeks before contacting jet 2 again. i took my complaint CAA.

Okay thanks, I did look at that but the caa states that because my flight was returning from Europe to UK that I cannot claim through them
  • I was thinking to send an LBA and then make a claim (mcol). I’m not sure what the best course of action is really?
  • We had our claim accepted with a rough time scale to pay of a few weeks. We actually left it just over 60 days and recontacted to ask why this had not yet been settled.  That email was sent last weekend and a cheque for the full amount arrived on Friday. Annoyingly the cheque and covering letter were both dated 4th November so had obviously been sat waiting to be sent out for sometime.
