Rubbish savings rates

Paperless should be the default for online/app accounts, and is indeed for an increasing number of accounts.
Moreover, those who still wish to get paper statement should be charged for every statement or other written communication, and the proceeds used to plant trees.7 -

This usually includes a question along the lines of ' is there anything else the bank could do to improve customer satisfaction ?'........I usually answer Yes. Offer market leading savings interest rates instead of the uncompetitive rates currently on offer.
Then of course, there is the repeated email asking me to agree to go paperless. Why would I agree to go paperless ? It will no doubt improve the banks profitability but cost me more to personally print out their documents.......I'm not falling for that one without an incentive.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.3 -
Fortunately your opinion on paperless accounts carries as much weight as mine.....which is zero.
The chance of banks charging for a paper statement is also virtually zero.
Banks like to try to make themselves popular but on the overall popularity scale they are somewhere near the bottom below estate agents & traffic wardens. 😁😁1 -

Neither do I have a 'smart' phone. Again this is something some large number of organisations assume one has.But if you go paperless, but really need a printed statement, you can ask the bank to send you one.I've never needed one yet. I don't have a smart phone or a working printer either.

It's just occurred to me, for what it's worth, that the title of this thread could be (mis-)interpreted as 'Rubbish as in Trash Savings Rates'.
Well one good way of reducing the amount of overall rubbish that a household produces is to opt for paperless statements whenever possible and to only print them out when absolutely necessary!2 -
It would seem you haven't understood, let me summarize:
* Not everyone has a printer.
* Not everyone wants a printer.
* Not all customers want paperless records.
* Some don't feel like putting themselves to considerable effort when they don't have to.
Paper is good, just grow more trees.

I don't follow why anyone wants a printed statement, either through the post or self printed.
I rarely even look at my statements, and then only online. I keep a transaction spreadsheet on Excel and balance to my online or app bank balances.

I find paper annual statements quite useful, but I don't need a monthly paper bank statement, as I have a habit of keeping them. I've still got some bank statements from 1986 in the loft somewhere!1

I used to file all my paper statements, but after multiple bulging lever archer files and a lack of physical storage space, there was only one way forward. Hundreds of accounts over past and present, thousands upon thousands of sheets.
I. Hate. Paper.
Physical space is a premium. Sending me booklets, brochures and paper copies of original digital documents is a waste of time, effort and resources. I have to shred everything with my name and address on it. Waste, waste, waste.
Fortunately every service I use(d) that required paper ‘originals’ has upgraded their systems and processes to accept true originals, and I haven’t had to ask for paper duplicates or print anything myself for over five years.3
