Buying house (with solar panels)

But, I'd suggest you DO want to keep it, so I would personally be prepared to haggle a price with them (with the exception if they try and keep the FIT*).
Looking towards the future, an ASHP could probably be run for a good few hours from batteries charged by the PVs, so for a good part of the year, you could have zeroish heating costs that are 100% clean, and that would be a great feeling. In summer, you'd have free DHW.
* I wouldn't accept this option because they'd still be 'owning' something stuck to your roof. Any repairs or roof extensions, you'd have to consult with them.1 -
Thank you all1

The big issue here is the feed-in tariff. You need to make sure he relinquishes his rights before exchange to your solicitor and also include the installation paperwork I had big problems when I moved house they it solar panels installed by the original developer. The guy I bought my house from seemed to think he could keep the feed-in tariff for himself and said it wasn't included.
It took nearly a year to sort out the paperwork so make sure you get paperwork and and a solicitor letter from his solicitor stating he he has sold the solar panels with the house.0 -
I'm having a horror too with the FIT.Our vendor is not responding to anyone (nor do they need to), however, my solicitors have been no help either. During conveyancing, I kept asking them to confirm that the panels were included. I never received a response.
After buying, we realised what a problem this was and had to absolutely exhaust their complaints process until one of their directors sent us through the information we needed (whilst being really snidey about why they hadn't sent them - insisting that they'd already done it, even though they had no proof - we have an email address that splits 2 ways - to me and my wife, so we definitely know they never sent it).3 months in, we believe that OVO manage the FIT, but they aren't talking to us either, so it looks like we might have to exhaust their complaint process too.Either that, or we'll just remove their meter and send it back to them and fit a new one - after all, we don't have a contract with them so they can hardly sue us as long as we don't break it. Our FIT tariff is shocking - 2016. Octopus would offer us more on their standard tariff and we'll probably fit a battery at some point.0 -

FITRegister@ofgem.gov.ukThey will typically require: your full name, your address, MPAN number, proof of your ownership of the property to which the panels are connected - the documentation they will accept includes but is not limited to: Property purchase contract, Deed to the house, Solicitor’s house purchase completion letter, Land Registry documents, and how long you've owned the property. But, yes, the ownership and FIT transfer should always be done as part of the conveyancing process.

That could be interesting. We've only been here 3 months and we think our Solicitor has screwed that up too.
