Bulb Energy Scam

Bulb sent me a final bill at my new Property in September as I had joined BG and, did not want to be with Bulb. I paid the amount by cheque and my Bank confirmed Bulb cashed it on 15th Sept 2022 and, they provide with paper proof that this amount has been paid to Bulb Energy. Bulb continue to chase me for this small amount and now say it will be passed to Debt collection Agency. Once again, I have sent them the Cheque Number and a photo of the amount on my Bank Statement clearly showing this sum has been paid to them. Is this a Scam. Pl comment.

    Clearly it's not a scam.

Raise a formal complaint if not resolved.

Not a scam, just a common-or-garden "male chicken"-up.  Have you actually spoken to them to raise a query?  That's the first step - and then, if you get no satisfactory resolution, raise a complaint as noted by the previous poster.
  • You didn’t put your Bulb Account number on the cheque did you.

    User error. Not a scam.

When you move into a new property, you automatically move onto a deemed contract with the incumbent supplier - in this case Bulb. After that you can then switch away to another supplier if you choose. Bulb has sent you a bill for the short period where they were supplying energy to your property before you moved away to BG - clearly not a scam.

Sounds like there's been a mix up somewhere and the cheque hasn't been applied to your energy account. I agree a formal (written) complaint to Bulb asking them to investigate the matter is in order. Provide them with proof that the cheques has been cashed and for them to rectify the situation by applying the value to your account, removing all late fees, removing any late repayment markers from your credit files, and to cease debt enforcement action. Escalate to the ombudsman if/when they fail to sort it in the relevant timescales.
