Sadly we seem to have given up trying to protect people. Hundreds of people a week dying.
But where do you draw the line?  Obviously hundreds is better than the thousands it used to be, when the country was (mostly) prepared to put up with the disruptive and expensive crisis measures, but that was never going to be sustainable indefinitely, especially once the vaccine programme had its expected impact, so it's just a case of exactly when such restrictions were eased - that's not to say that everyone would agree the criteria or timing though!
If we followed the science we could have fewer deaths and just a simple mask mandate in high risk areas.

For example far UV is effective and cheap. Air filtration is effective and cheap.
I guess there are always going to be conflicts between science (which obviously doesn't speak as one), cost and politics, not necessarily in that order!

There are a lot of colds/coughs around at the moment but I don’t know anyone who has tested for Covid, and they are all carrying on as normal which would include travelling on public transport
My employer still requires us to test if we get symptoms and isolate at home until negative again. There are 2 people off now.

For flying (and just generally keeping safe) your best bet is an 3M Aura mask. No valve and it's FFP3.

For people saying that covid isn't a big deal and to just get over it so we can "get back to normal" - I'm sorry but that's utter nonsense.  Many people are still dying or becoming chronically unwell/disabled due to covid.  Wearing masks is a minor inconvenience but can literally save lives.  It's not a big ask.

Unfortunately the 3M ones don't fit me.
