Question for buyers regarding flooring in the house

I'd leave the carpet if it's in good condition, but not only inform the EA of the oak parquet, but make sure it's mentioned in the sales particulars. The buyer will then have the choice. It would also be a waste to get rid of a decent carpet. It'll likely cost you, or be a lot of hard work, to restore the oak to a condition where it'll be considered a ready-to-move-in asset.0

Take carpet up and get wood polished. Whatever buyers like a good wood floor looks more expensive in the photos as wooden floors cost a lot more than carpet. Thet are also uncommon most places seem to have horrible tacky laminate0

Murphybear said:We bought a bungalow some years ago. The carpet in the lounge had seen better days so we decided to take it up. We were stunned, there was a beautiful parquet floor underneath, in near perfect condition. We hired a polisher and titivated it a bit, little cost and little work.

Not necessarily. My mum is sadly no longer with us, but I know that she would have taken one look at my lovely engineered oak flooring and asked why we couldn't afford carpets.

I bought this house a year ago had a solid wood floor and was a 'feature' when it was being advertised, ripped up and carpeted within a week.

Time of year that you are selling has an influence. Carpet in winter, hard floor in summer. If you are selling now I'd leave the carpet down.0

Hi OP
If the room looks better with the carpet or floor, leave the best option.
You can tell the buyers about the flooring if the carpet stays
A room may have great flooring but your colour coordiantion is with the blue carpet so consider that

I’d leave the carpet but make it known about the flooring underneath. Then the buyer can choose whether they prefer carpet or wooden flooring0
