LycaMobile - 4G issues?

A few weeks ago I switched from giffgaff to LycaMobile. As they both use O2's network, I wasn't expecting any issues. But at least 3 times in the last week, I've had ~30min outages of 4G data. I doubt it's my phone - as I've never had problems before, it's fine on wifi, and I've not changed any settings recently. I have plenty of data allowance left. Outages have happened in different areas of the city, i.e. different cell towers.
Do firms that piggyback on the major networks all get the same access? Or is there a chance LycaMobile aren't buying enough access for their customers' needs?
Currently very tempted to migrate back to giffgaff and say goodbye to the few quid I saved with Lyca!

I moved to LycaMobile because they were the only company still including Switzerland in European roaming. It won’t find 4G, only LTE and coverage has been terrible in the UK. It worked well in France and Switzerland, but still only LTE or 3G (never 4G). I’ll be swapping as soon as I’m home. LycaMobile is cheap but poor in my experience.0
