boob tenderness is such a naggy pain. I find evening of primrose oil helps on that score (it's something I always suffered with) but not sure if it's acceptable to take with HRT. I'm taking a herbal mix that's really pushed my peri symptoms to the background but if I miss a couple of days the hot flushes and boobs like rocks are back with a vengeance. Aren't our bodies great! (Where's the sarcastic smiley when you need it)
Any exchange/completion dates being bandied about yet?4 -
Eek Jellytotts Evening Primrose is something I've taken for years as it always worked brilliantly for me against PMT and it hadn't even occurred to me that there could be contra-indications with HRT - I must check on that. Thanks for mentioning it!
New House stuff:
No dates yet - I'm hoping that our mortgage offer lands in the next few days otherwise I'll need to call FD for an update I think. I'll chase the survey tomorrow too I think unless it comes back today. Hopefully the sales pack from our freeholder will be back in the next few days for our sale too - Mr Boss is chasing that for us today as they said 10 working days and it's well beyond that! We're just resigned to the fact that it will take as long as it takes to be honest - much as we want to be in as soon as reasonably possible! I won't quite believe we're going to be moving until the point where we walk in the door I don't think!
I have this morning requested to withdraw the PBs - only to realise too late that I probably should have still ticked the option to leave them there until the next draw as that is actually today - I thought it happened first thing but have now seen a suggestion that it may not be...oh well, we'll see! Ultimately I want to get the money into an account where it will actually earn some interest now - and I think our chances of winning anything more than another £25 in the draw are slim at best. That money should land in the bank in a few days and I will transfer it to the account we are using for the bulk of our cash contribution towards the new house.
Spent some time sorting our the garage and working out what we have in the way of boxes etc already yesterday - also managed to get MrEH to dispose of some more old toot from there without too many utterings of "but we'll have room for it all when we move!". The process of decluttering and tidying the flat ahead of listing has really helped to get him to focus on what is worth keeping and what isn't, which is brilliant - he's always been shocking about that in the past so that is a real win.
MSE/Money stuff:
The start of month money stuff has all happened over the weekend and today - money shuffling done at this end and just over another £1000 has been shifted to the New House Fund (Joint account surplus from last month plus the "usual" amount that transfers to our old mortgage OP pot account - this is money which has over the years been saved by negotiating various household bills etc - we add the difference to that monthly payment when a saving is made but never adjust the other way when anything increases!) Joint account surplus this month will not be anything like as high sadly - travel will be more expensive this month as of course half of June was spent on holiday!
Shopping done on Saturday - Aldi but an eye watering £52.30 nonetheless. Just one small "off list" item though which will be put aside as a future present for someone specific. Then to add insult to injury we had to do a second shop yesterday to get a few bits we'd not managed to get on saturday - thankfully that was only another £6.35.
MrEH's car filled up with fuel yesterday - just under £40.
General stuff:
We have a tradition that celebrated dates usually get celebrated with an indian takeaway - it's the only times we usually have that sort of takeaway so we don't begrudge this. Friday evening's meal was indeed said takeaway in honour of MrEH's birthday which was a few days earlier. however the good news was that our preferred indian has now come off Just Eat and their prices have now dropped substantially as a result - win! That will come from our spends accounts anyway.
A bit of a funny few weeks coming up - the weekend away with pals, then my full 5 days at the big airshow - the longest I've ever done there, I'm viewing it as probably a one off but it will be fun to experience the arrivals stuff on site as well! (It will also likely bump costs up - although I'll probably try to make sure I take lunch for day 1, and might try to plan in something for lunch for another day as well. I have a hotel room for night one, and then an airbnb for thursday - sunday - so will be able to make sure I have food for evening meals - I'll do a supermarket run on the Thursday evening. As a result of all this though I have a 1 day working week next week!
A Good Thing:
We have now moved to the next stage for a good chunk of the voluntary role stuff - the remainder will follow in the next few days. As a result the weekend has been remarkably quiet on that score - it's been great to feel we've had a bit more downtime!
A Bad Thing:
Actually - I can't think of anything at the moment on this, which is excellent!
A Food for Thought Thing:
Beginning to start planning for the new house is (in spite of what I said above) also giving me a bit of belief that it might actually happen. Over the weekend we have started thinking around our existing items of furniture with a view to what we will want to put where and as a result now I'm beginning to be able to visualise the house as "ours" a bit more I think. I have also realised that the back of my mind is harbouring a distinct conviction that it's all going to go wrong, and that I can't really do anything to stop that, but that it is just a low level thing, not a full blown anxiety. It's out of my control ultimately - all we can do is to make sure that we do the things we need to in a timely fashion, and that will in turn help keep thigs on track.

Thanks Milann & Beanie - hopefully it will!
Greatly amused here this morning - took the decision yesterday as I said to cash out the PB's so we have the balance ready for the move. Could have left them in for August's draw but thought frankly it was better to get them into the account where the money would need to be well ahead of time, plus, with no win since April and never having win more than £25 at a time anyway, we felt that the return would simply be better by having that amount in an account paying 4%+ interest (from later this week). I've just looked at the NS&I account and we've only gone and won £100 in this month's draw!Typical eh?! Ah well - it can sit there for now!
All other banks checked and good - interest has landed on one savings account. I ned to do some CC money shuffling as I want to try to keep the balance at zero at the moment so I'll need to remind MrEH he owes me for his polo shirts, and shift some other funds around too. All from budgets, so all good though.
I have chased the surveyors for our survey report, and MrEH is going to call FD re the mortgage I think - hopefully they can give us an idea of when the offer might be heading our way. He is seeing the removal people so they can quote us this morning - we had a hasty whizz round tidying up last night as I have a sneaking suspicion that if they get any kind of a hint that folk might be disorganised that bumps the quote!
MrEH should be back at rugby training this evening so I'm looking to structure my time a little:
Arrival home > 7pm = food prep then voluntary role stuff
7pm > 8pm = eat tea, TV.
8pm - 9pm = A bit of a tidy/ S&S kitchen as needed/ get one box packed (probably books) & do outstanding shredding.
9pm = some form of yoga - even if just something short.
Then the rest of the evening is mine for relaxing.
I don't need to stick rigidly to these timeslots but do want to make sure the various bits get done. Options for packing are either recipe books or maps and guidebooks as we know where each of those will be going so I can close up the box and label.
We have what Foxgloves would call a bit of a shopping from home win on the storage of maps in the new house. Mum has a CD tower (was Dad's) which she isn't going to use - it's an Ikea Billy one, and by happy chance matches the furniture we have for the office, so we plan to re-jig the shelving in that to take our map collection - which should work really well. Mum's proving a bit of a treasure trove on the furniture front at the moment - we also have a small TV/DVD, a small coffee table, a leather swivel armchair, a single bed headboard which is way nicer than the one currently on our existing single and a few other bits coming from her. Also a rather lovely little bedside cabinet which was made by my Grandfather in the 1960's, we think, and a gorgeous if currently rather worse for wear bureau/writing desk which was also owned by grandparents on Mum's side of the family - it was what Mum used as my changing table when I was a baby and she gave it to me years ago and they have stored it ever since as we had nowhere to put it! It will be amazing to finally have that in my own home! I'll be setting aside some money to have that restored too I think - along with the little writing box which was my Great Grandma's which needs a fair bit of restoration. Both items that have always been in my life, so I'm looking forward to actually getting use from them!
Spendiness for the first part of this week is currently at zero - I popped to Matalan last night but just exchanged MrEH's polo shirts and didn't even consider looking at anything else (although if the scratchiness from my new bras doesn't go away after they've each been washed they will be getting those back as they are currently most irritiating!). Not even contemplating going into any shops until probably Friday now. We'll need to buy some beer somewhere on the way off on Friday, and depending what we have to do on the voluntary role stuff we might make Friday a full day out, head off early and have lunch somewhere on the way down (we'll be heading to Dorset) but we'll see on that. The weekend will be a spendy one - but we're expecting that, and costs will be transferred across from our joint fun and personal spends accounts.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

We are doing a big move (over 300 miles) so I knew removals quotes would be quite hefty. First quote was from a company we've used for every move we've ever done in the last 25 years and it was around the ballpark figure we'd estimated. 2nd company came to see us, tried to upsell everything (I don't need anything, I'm all packed and ready to go, I don't need extra bubble wrap and boxes and disposable mattress covers thank you) and their basic quote was more than double the first company. Needless to say we've gone back to the company we know and trust.7

Well done on the PB win. Looks like it's been a good month for a lot of people!
Hope you get a good quote for the move. Great results on finding furniture as well"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney4 -
Great news on the PB win it all helps.
Good luck with the pre-move declutter - glad Mr EH is now on board.
As to moving anxiety - I think everyone has that. Try to listen for any practical points and then let it go.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
