You will find that many staff at all of the banks do not know a lot of the terms etc I suspect this is mostly through them not being trained properly. At one a member of staff called me smug because I knew more than she did. Naturally I made a formal complaint regarding this.3

Good stuff! Such interactions are one of the reason I avoid telephone banking where possible.Katiehound said:Just to say that my friend did lodge a formal complaint & they gave her £40. (they were still saying the same old... one solo account etc but finally someone checked it out!)
She was on the phone for very much more than an hour so they gave her a further £8 to cover the phone call. Hope it covers it as you pay per extra minute after the first hour. I think she was getting so angry at the time taken and trying to keep her cool that common sense didn't kick in! Like 'When is a quiet time to call?'

Unfortunately that is the only method she can use- doesn't have a computer and now not a single branch of any flavour of bank available in her small town. 10+ miles to civilisation! and then difficult parking (if she had a car.)WillPS said:

This was actually telephone banking so you would expect them to be au fait with regulations that came into force almost a month earlier. Seems notMACKEM99 said:You will find that many staff at all of the banks do not know a lot of the terms etc I suspect this is mostly through them not being trained properly. I must admit if I didn't have the Internet I'd probably err towards simplicity.1 -

Of course she can go into the local PO for other transactions but it's situated in the busy Coop store, always has queues & not at all private (or secure.)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
