A&L or Lloyds TSB

Options
Hey Gang

Quick question i have a A&L Premier Account combined with a Online Saver. I earn over #25 a year and the Guru tells us that the TSB account is better!

I never have more than #2500 in the account as i put any excess in a offset acount or a little in the Online Saver which has a good interest for a saver acount.

Is it still better for me to go to the TSB Account as the free travel insurance from the A&L is no use as i am covered from work for holiday insurance?

How much better off would i be swapping?
I say what I like, I like what I say!

    What Guru? :confused: Martin in his article clearly states that Lloyds tsb could be better only if you have much more than £2500 on your current account...

    Also dependsw on whether you want to pay bills over the counter. Ltsb is ok for this but A&L is a no no.

    If you are going to open a lloyds account make sure you get an existing customer to recommend you BUT if you are opening a joint account don't believe what it says on the website or the leaflets

    Tell a friend/family member just how good banking with Lloyds TSB is and you could both be £50 better of

    They only pay £50 per account not per new customer [as they advertise]. If you want a joint account open 2 seperate ones and combine them after the £50s have been paid.

    This is just your misunderstanding! What they actually mean is:
    You already have account
    You recommend a friend or a family member
    Both of you and friend/member get £50.

    Best strategy if you do not have account yet:
    1. You find a frend with account who recommends you.
    2. You open an account and both of you get £50
    3. You recommend a spouse
    4. Spouse opens an account and both of you get £50.
    As a result your family have extra £150 to spend/save

    Your system works best but I only noticed they were advertising '£50 per new customer' after SWMBO and I had opened a joint account. I had a recommend for from a friend at work but I filled in another form for an additional £50 for the chap who had recommended me and £50 for the wife becomming a new customer but they are only paying £25 each as it is a joint account. Show me where it says that in te T&C? I am closing the account and we will do it again. {I have a touch of teh devil in me and I hate to be ripped off.}

    Never seen or heard this...

    'Only one £50 voucher can be used if a joint account is opened.' ('Tell a friend' form);
    'This offer is limited to one incentive payment per new account. A joint account is only eligible for one incentive payment.' (Moving to Lloyds TSB )
    I am closing the account and we will do it again. {I have a touch of teh devil in me and I hate to be ripped off.}
    You have nothing to lose. However, they write in the 'Tell a friend' form': 'One voucher per customer when they open their first current account with Lloyds TSB.' I understand that 'first' can be interpreted in different ways though...

    I don't like Lloyds tsb. I just try to stay impartial :beer:

    Did you get those T&C off the web site Grumbler? I have the 'in store' tell a friend brochure they had in the branch and there is no mention of these terms nor does it refer customers to other T&C elsewhere.

    And another thing.....
    The link you supply is to moving an account to Lloyds. I didn't do that I opened a new one

    http://www.lloydstsb.com/current_accounts/members_get_members.asp

    Hope I don't sound like I'm trying to pick a fight with you but Lloyds seem to have a problem with consistency.

    If you have had an account which you close and then reopen the application will pick up the old customer files and therefore you will not be technically new to bank customer and probably will not get the incentive paid.

    'Tell a friend' form I quote is from 'Dounload voucher' on the page you quote.
    I think there is no big difference between switching account and opening a new one.

    Maybe; but there certainly is a difference to the T&C you quote to those in the leaflet from the branch I used. Ref m54751/0305

    Thanks - The disparity between the website T&C and those on the leaflet I used certainly strengthens my case.
