So apologies for my 2nd post in a day.

I have a chunk of Evraz shares in my Interactive Stocks and Shares ISA

Evraz have been sanctioned in the UK because of links with Russia.

They do have a value in my account, but I'm unable to trade/sell/buy etc.

I'm wanting to close my II account, and as they can't be sold, it looks like they will be lost?? Still investigating that.

I have found this below from Evraz

https://www.evraz.com/en/share-certificates/

  • After 19 August 2022 EVRAZ will be responsible for maintaining the register of members on its own. Due to the UK sanctions, EVRAZ does not have the opportunity to engage a registrar.
  • Computershare Investor Services PLC mailed share certificates to all former CREST holders on or around August 19, 2022.

If you hold EVRAZ shares through a registered holder (nominee) please read below

  • Your shareholding will be certified by a share certificate issued to the registered holder (nominee). Further record of you as EVRAZ shareholder is maintained by your nominee.

First question..
How do I hold these shares? Are II the nominee???
If so, I want to leave II so how do I get hold of a share certificate as II will be unable to sell these??

I can see this information -
  • Transactions with the share certificates which are held by nominees can be time consuming because nominees can represent interests of a large number of beneficiaries. You may wish to authorize your nominee to instruct EVRAZ to register EVRAZ shares in your own name, and to issue a share certificate in respect of such shares. To do it you and your nominee should complete a stock transfer form pursuant to which the registered shareholder (nominee) will transfer your EVRAZ shares to you. The stock transfer form must be lodged with a covering share certificate.

Does this mean I can instruct II somehow to register these shares in my name, so I can escape II??

Any help appreciated. Other forums/chat expect these shares to make a comeback.

I'm awaiting a reply from them. (5 days apparently)
Am I the holder or are they held though a nominee account?? Are II the nominees people?

They’ll be held in certificated form in II’s name as nominee for their clients, so I reckon you need to ask them to issue a certificate to you in your name with the correct number of shares that you hold.

Id expect II to charge an admin fee for processing that instruction..

I have now left I.I. and have managed to get my Share Certificate from Evraz.
It's quite cute with some nice signatures.

One day it may come back and be worth a lot of Money. It was doing mighty fine until the UK Government decided the steel may be being used to make Russian tanks...

EDIT - Just seen this on the site..

Is it the equivalent of a dividend payment we are not not to get because of the UK Government??

    20 March 2023

EVRAZ plc (“EVRAZ” or the “Company”) announces that its 5.375% Notes due 2023 (the “2023 Notes”) will not be redeemed in whole or in part on 20 March 2023, despite the EVRAZ group having sufficient liquidity to do so.

The Company is currently prohibited from making payments in respect of the 2023 Notes without a license from the UK sanctions regulator, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation of HM Treasury (“OFSI”).

No, that sounds like it's to do with the repayment of a corporate bond ie. debt.

I still look at my recently issued share certificate and still have hopes and dreams that it is worth more than just a piece of paper...
  • In the very same boat, I have 30k shares:(

Tried to get them out as certs from Lloyds, they're held in an ISA and didn't get very far. How did you get Evraz to issue you a certificate?

Hi Sorry for the late reply.

Mine were held within a S&S ISA with II.

I requested via a secure message, got this initially, but around 6 week later my Cert Arrived in the post.
They never charged me the fee either, probably an admin error.

    Details below.

I'd push the issue with LLoyds.. It's up to them to get the cert from Evraz, Evraz are issuing them, as they've said on their website.

Thank you for your secure message dated 29 November 2022.

To confirm, in order to request a Share Certificate for Evraz we would need to contact the company directly. We have not received confirmation that Evraz are able to action the withdrawals. Due to this, we can put on a note on our records so that when we have received confirmation from Evraz that they can issue the Share Certificates, a member from our Settlements Team can contact you directly to ask if you would still like to proceed with this.

Received a nice letter/pack from Russia a few weeks ago as I'm now registered on their share register with a certificate directly from them (Computershare not dealing with them anymore).

AGM in London next week and proxy forms to elect Directors.

Don't give up on your Evraz shares, the company are doing ok.
