Kent Reliance

Have just opened online account with Kent Reliance via link from MSE, surprised how quick I was approved so googled them. Should have done that first, reviews so appalling on Trust Pilot that I'm surprised they are even mentioned on this site. Anyone had any experience with them?

Kent Reliance - are they really this bad? - Page 8 — MoneySavingExpert Forum
  • I've currently got a fixed term cash ISA with Kent Reliance, and have had the same for several years, as did my late husband. I've always found them efficient and reasonably timely, and have had no problems. When they had a market leading cash ISA recently I think they were a bit overwhelmed, with insufficient staff to cope with the demand.

Many of the complaints seem to be about difficulties with getting in touch. When an ISA transfer form is filled in correctly then it's handled smoothly, but communication will be put to the test at maturity as instructions seem to need to be messaged to avoid an automatic re-investment.

My parents have both been waiting now for 2 weeks for a transfer in from an instant access ISA to one of their fixes, done via the online 'electronic' form, and still nothing. Slightly concerning as they say that transfers in can only be done for the first 15 days.

    No response to messaging.

They actually say 30 days to receive transfer requests https://www.kentreliance.co.uk/isas/transfers-in

If you completed an electronic transfer during the application you would expect to receive a transfer email and text from KR a few working days later and maybe something from your current ISA. Then within a week or so the funds should clear from your ISA and then a deposit email and text plus ISA specific email and text from KR and final communication from the current ISA. So to hear nothing after two weeks suggests some problem with that particular application.

Not if it’s over 50k, took over 8 weeks.
I got more in compensation than interest.
I love a good fight and Kent reliance make it easy.
So did TSB, almost £800 in compensation.

    Two separate things.
They received the transfer request instantly, at the same time as the application.

The issue was the screen at the end, it stated that they need to receive the funds from the transfer within 15 days. I didn't screenshot of course, but I clearly remember the 15 days part.

From the linked page they actually say
    - A request to transfer funds from another provider must occur within 30 days of your account being opened
We’ll only hold your request open for 30 days.
please allow up to 15 working days for a cash ISA transfer and 30 days for a stocks and shares ISA transfer from when we receive your form for the transfer to take place

They'll likely take a few days after the application to pick up the electronic transfer request and enter it onto their system and pass it onto to the other bank - this step isnt instant like a faster payments funds transfer - but they send an email and text at this stage

If the other bank then takes more than 30 days to complete a simple cash ISA transfer it's not really KR's fault
