Well registration with TrueIdentity was pretty straightforward, though did require me remembering which accounts I had opened some 20+ years ago.

Dark Web Monitoring is a bit of a mystery though, and instructions seem to be non-existent. For example you can enter a bank account, but it doesn't say what format should be used (presumably it would need both sort code and account number). Does anybody know?
Like most of those things it is a gimmick, flagged by the addition of the scare term "Dark Web". In theory they monitor some of the well known information trading sites for the data, either as samples or as open dumps. In reality if information is actually useful it is almost always traded privately, it will say what is in the data, but they would not be publishing information that the monitoring services can pick up on.

There was not enough data in this leak to make it a substantia risk, those compromised are likely to get more spam and phishing scams, but there is not enough data to allow a direct compromise.

Agreed. I was curious though to know whether it would find the data that is supposed to have been leaked.

  • Annoying as it is, this is one of my main reasons for using a burner phone and simple mail burner emails for people i don't want contacting me unless i specifically request it.

I changed bank account about 2 months ago so the only data they actually have is my name and address. Not ideal but probably available for cheaper via 192.com.
  • So ive received a letter today they are asking me to sign up to uktrueidentity has anyone done this

Yes, I'm not sure it's been of any benefit.
