HI everyone
I feel a bit silly but i must have signed up to this company on facebook. I have received a letter from HMRC saying they have sent a cheque to Check my Group Ltd for a refund.
I've been trying to find a number for this company and can't and trust pilot reviews many people are saying they've received a letter from HMRC but nothing back from this company!
Now i appreciate that they are going to keep some of the money but i really don't want them to keep ALL of the money.
Does anyone have any advice on how to go about getting at least some of the refund back of them.
Thanks in advance

Send an LBA to the company registered address given on Companies House. But don't hold your breath to ever expect to get your refund. What is the timescale from sending of the cheque? No free lunch, and no free laptop1

Make sure you also get it in writing that they are no longer acting for you or they will try and claim things like married couples allowances etc1

And don't ever sign up for anything to do with finance or tax affairs on Facebook...No free lunch, and no free laptop5

The money was probably fraudulently claimed anyway, in which case you will be liable to repay it to HMRC.0
