County court judgment for a fine over 5 years ago

Just received a letter from civil enforcement limited saying that county court business centre has issued the judgment. Now this is for a parking that took place over 5 years ago, I do remember that once they had a broken payment machine, but ANPR camera still recorded and sent me a fine. However I can't remember if this is issued for that time. They are offering to settle for £250 otherwise they will claim for £350. Now the sum is not the issue, but CCJ on my credit report is. What is the best course of action? It seems like there's too much work to do to challenge this just for £250.

If you pay it off, that is you actually have a CCJ and have missed the deadline be aware that it if you pay it off it will remain on your credit record affecting things such as ability to obtain credit - anything form a mortgage, mobile phone, loan for a new car, gaining employment in certain jobs and so on for upto six years, all be it marked as satisfiedWhen you say over 5 years, what do you mean? as six years is supposed to be the limitWhat happened to the original paperwork you received in relation to the parking charge notice?Who's car park was this?in the Newbies thread ( link https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822/newbies-private-parking-ticket-old-or-new-read-these-faqs-first-thankyou#latest) you will find thisHAVE YOU FOUND OUT ABOUT A CCJ (JUDGMENT FOR CLAIMANT) AND NEED IT SET ASIDE?
DO NOT ring the parking firm up...and do not just pay! Read this thread for what to send with your N244:

I want to show the Government how lucrative the litigation machine is. I want an image of what CEL say about the sum increasing, please.
Too much work?
You'd rather pay it and thus cement the damage to your credit rating with a 'satisfied' CCJ in place for the full 6 years than fill out an application that CEL will end up paying you back for?!
Obviously, we advise that you MUST get the CCJ set aside (NOT SATISFIED) and don't pay it nor phone them. You phone the CCBC in Northampton for a copy of the 'Particulars of Claim'. As seen on all the other CCJ SET ASIDE threads we get daily, and always get them set aside (and usually the parking firm also gets ordered to pay back the £275 N244 application fee to the defendant AND often the PCN itself is dismissed, to boot).
Read the 'CCJ set aside' section in the 2nd post of the Newbies Announcement thread.
Then read the thread by @BrokenchiefPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

As for the letters I'm not sure since it has been such a long time, I might have received some few years ago.It is owned by star parking which is part of skylink group limited, but the only company name on the letter I received is civil enforcement limited. So I guess the best way to proceed is to send a N244 as CCJ on my credit record is the main issue here.

Hang on ... if they're offering to settle for less (?) then it sounds like there isn't yet an actual CCJ. Have you checked your credit report with Experian etc. to see if there actually is a CCJ?Jenni x1

Some unexpected updates, turns out the claim was filed in 2018. I have received some letter from the court and filled out saying that I want to contest. I received no reply and forgot about it, and my credit is not affected. At that time I wrote down that there is photo evidence and the machine was not in operation. As it was showing an error message, but I'm not sure if I still have the photo. Should I still complete the N244?
Also it says "pay within 14 days of the date of this letter" meaning I only have less than a week left to do so, even though I received it today. Which I found quite funny.0 -
You do have a CCJ. It will show up if you check Trust Online.
You need a copy of the POC from the CCBC, as I already advised.
Sounds like you did a scrawled or short, unsupported 'defence' and then either:
(a). it was so weak it was struck out, or
(b). Your defence was never received, or
(c). you never returned the Directions Questionnaire, perhaps due to the claim and subsequent Court letters & Directions going to an old address or you moving house just after the defence went in.BTW thanks for posting that letter. I'm going to show it to the DLUHC today.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It will drop off 6 years from the date it went on your credit file
So i would do nothing. There will be NO enforcement action.0
