About 8 or 9 years ago I gave my boyfriend my bank card to get the last £60 we had in the bank until payday a week away and he said the money bit opened but no money came out and £60 had vanished out of my account. I rang Abbey National (whi I banked with at the time) and they said my boyfriend had clearly stolen it and I would not see my money again, I knew for a fact my boyfriend wouldnt do that so i pestered them and they stuck with my boyfriend had stolen it so I asked them to get the cctv footage (it was a Natwest bank in kings Cross) and they refused. 3 months later I got a letter that said that they have had correspondence from Natwest and that it's computer has alerted them to a fault and they have my £60, bloomin nightmare. Oh and Abbey National still made me wait a few more weeks before they credited back to my account.

Your very lucky as the bank could have used the fact that you shouldnt give your pin out to anyone as an excuse not to deal with your complaint and hidden behind their t&c's. I also give my pin out, but i would never tell my bank that.

Yeah I realised after I should have just said it happened to me, I was worried they would tell by a camera at the cash machine or something lol.

I know of at least one ATM where for anyone above about 5ft tall the buttons line un perfectly with the amount more than the one it actually indicates, see loads of people by it thinking they have been given short!

think what he means is the buttons dont line up very well for the amounts - ie the button that looks like it will give you £20 will only give you £10 as it isnt line up well to the amounts the machine dispenses
