Amazon Warehouse rant (semi solved)

When buying form Amazon, one of the best bits is if there is something wrong with that you have orded, its easy to return and get your money back.
I recenlty bought a Tablet from Amazon Warehouse, when it arrived it was missing parts and I also noticed it was cheaper to Buy new from amazon that the price i had paid 2nd hand. When I reached out to a support rep - i explained my case and his reposonse was simple, send the item back - No reduction in what I had paid, no offered to get the missing parts back to me.

I was under the false illusion that if the returned item had not been processed in 14 days - my money would be refunded - my god I was so wrong.
"A used or open box item purchased from Amazon Warehouse can be returned within 30 days of receipt of shipment. Renewed products come with the Amazon Renewed Guarantee giving you a replacement or refund within 90 days of purchase if the item does not work as expected."

Thats right folks, they have 90 days (I was quoted 60) to send your money back. Not happy with this I filed a dispute with my bank and the money was refunded before them 60 days. Still waiting for the gift balance to be added - have to wait unil 1st Jan 2023.

Once all this is sorted - I will spend my gift balance then close down my amazon account - the company is almost as bad as Curry's now.

When buying warehouse products and new products from Amazon if I return them then I do and normally get a refund when the tracking shows as the item is on the way to them.

If I dont after a week or two I contact them and ask for the refund. Everytime this has been actioned.

Did you talk to them after 1-2 weeks of sending it back to ask if they could process the refund?

Also, Amazon Warehouse wont have spare parts etc. There is nothing wrong with Amazon saying to return it then buy the new product if its cheaper.

It arrived on a Sunday, monday I took it to the post office - the tracking said it arrived at the amazon warehouse by thrusday. I waited past the 14 days and no matter who i spoke to or how many times - I got told I had to wait until 1st Jan 2023 before any refund can be sorted unless the amazon warehouse who recived the order processed the item in which case a refund would be started.

We are now one month into the sega - as I stated I sorted with my bank who refunded the money within a few days once I provided all the details they needed. Had I not used some of my amazon gift money, this would have been sorted 100%.

But take note - they dont have to refund you for 60/90 days as per the above statement. Be careful when buying items from warehouse is all I am saying.

Just be aware Amazon have 45 days to reject the banks Chargeback & take the funds back.
It has also been heard that they then close the account down.

Amazon might do that for you as you have started a chargeback.

As it's been mentioned, they won't supply spare parts or reduce prices further. The idea of the warehouse pricing is that you might be missing accessories such as chargers/instruction booklets/cables/memory cards etc. the 'extras' usually found in the box with original product. So you take pot luck - and if on receipt it's not up to your standard, then yes, just send it back. They have a number of returns processing centres, and for higher ticket items, they'll want to ensure you've actually sent back what you've said you've sent back before issuing a refund, and yes it can take time. I've returned a couple of bits that didn't get refunded for a month, but did get refunded once they'd gotten around to processing it at the returns centre.

They could probably handle it better than they do, but imagine they'll have quite a slew of returns to deal with at certain times of the year and with certain promotional periods. I'd like them to have a bit more quality control on original returns before being put into the warehouse - I ordered a DJI battery from the warehouse, and received a box full of rice and toilet paper - I got an instant refund, but that should never have happened with decent quality control. On the other side, I recently got an Iphone 13 Pro for £350 below retail that was unmarked with 11+ months applecare remaining. Sometimes you have to take a chance on these things to get a bargain, but work with them to get your money back. There's no doubt you would have got it, and agree it could be quicker, but as others have said, you may find they close your account now that you've initiated a chargeback.

From the emailed I have now got from Amazon - it is clear what you all said is correct.
So they are going to contact the bak and tale the money back even though I have provided the full informaiton to both the bank and Amazon? Why is this allowed to happen?

Once the get to the 1st Jan 2023 - do they then refund the money and close my account? What about the Gift Balance on the account - does this just gtet wiped out? It all sounds very Illegal from my eyes.

At the moment they haven't yet processed your return. So in their eyes, you could be the one ripping them off. Until they've unpacked your item and inspected it, you're in no-mans-land - and as you've started a chargeback, they'll defend it until they know that your product has actually been returned.

You're obviously frustrated at the time taken to get your refund which is understandable, but your course of action sadly from what you've said, decided to close your account on the 1st Jan 2023? What did the email say exactly?

Yes - you may well have done. Some people even get instant refunds the moment the parcel is handed over to the post office/courier. Others (as the OP) have had to wait longer because of the type of return involved - in this case an item that was originally purchased in the Amazon warehouse that happened to be 'Electronics'.
