Goverment help re Enrgey
Hi
Can someone please advise if is m right re my question?
We are getting help regarding the heating bill from the government of £66.00 or so
Can you advise do I deduct the amount from my monthly bill and pay the balance?
As asked the same question about my energy bill and they could not answer it
As if I pay my monthly bill on top of payment from the government and overpay my energy company as could use the money elsewhere
Await your resposne

Who is your supplier as they all handle it slightly differently ?How do you pay - monthly on receipt of bill ?What does your on line account show for the payments so far ?1

If you are still paying on receipt of bill from Shell, then as per their site:
"The discount will be applied to your energy account each month. It will appear on the bill as an extra payment, so you’ll owe £66/67 less than you normally would. If you’re billed before the EBSS discount is applied, the discount will be added to your next bill."

the bit Jyana quoted is saying the 66 is taken of what you owe before you get the bill. so the balance on the bill is what you owe after the discount.
the second bit is saying if your bill date is half way through the first month and you missed the october payment then its taken off your next bill so if you paid your oct bill with no discount then you will get an 'extra month' of discount at the end in march.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

No, you should always pay the amount shown on your bill and not take off any amounts, as that would lead to you underpaying and show that you have a debt. That will leave you open to charges/late fees from your supplier.aayush said:

ariarnia is correct in saying that the amount will automatically be taken off your bills before they are sent to you. The energy company deal with it as they are the one who is acting as the middle man between you and the government who are providing the extra amounts, and are the company who are in control of ensuring it is correctly added to each customer account. The customer cannot know when it arrives, nor able to credit it to their account, so is not able to handle the details here.

It shows they have applied the £66 payment to your account alongside the £5 and your payment of £95.08.
You need to pay the bill they give you (on checking it's accurate in terms of usage of course) which has the £166 deducted already.
As you are already in arrears with them they will expect you to pay your normal amount rather than fall further into arrears2 -
If it were not for the £66 your debt would have risen by about £40. Does the assistance from the Government make it possible to increase that £5 a month ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1
