Looking at going with sky. It states prices could go up while in contract.  Anyone know that to happen?

I think most contracts are like that ie not worth the paper they are written on.
They can go up but tell them you want a fix for x months regardless of what their T&C's say.
Most people seek a discount and get one.

    Yes.  Up to 10%.

Depending on what you watch (or want to watch) you may be be able to do better than Sky anyway.

My internet provider keeps their prices fixed for the duration of the minimum contract period so it is possible that other internet or TV subscription service could/should do the same. If you are hit with increases during the minimum contract period you should be able to get out penalty free.
Someone please tell me what money is

You can't get our penalty free from Sky TV as they state when you take out the contract that prices will rise, same as with my BB from BT. I always factor price increases into any contract I take out.

In other words, Sky has a contract that it can rise prices at will and penalties if you leave early, what is in favour of the customer.

In the old days a contract was just that often a fixed price/etc.

BT tried to say I had a contract in August 2016 when I moved to Plusnet I had signed up to BT Sports 8 months earlier and they tried to charge me over £220 to leave but the T & C's that I downloaded said nowhere in them that I would be charged if I left early. I emailed the CEO and sent a copy of the T & C's from when I signed up to BT Sports and the most recent and neither said anything about being charged for the remaining months left on a contract. I ended up paying just £2.16 to leave them as the phone line took an extra day to port over to Plusnet.
