Thanks FS and Starlight
Well done on your decluttering too.
I've done the tip run and the charity shop trip. Really pleased with what left my home as it included loads of small appliances that you're supposed to take to the tip and therefore had been hanging around for - cough - years. I still have too much surface clutter but I've freed up a few more craft drawers - so have some space to sort what I'm keeping into... One of the things Dana says is for crafters like me - does what you're storing fit your current hobbies or a past one... That is a fantastic prompt. I've let go of rubber stamps, wooden stuff, card toppers, decoupage napkins.
I've also decluttered a lot of my crystal - I still love it but I have more than I use/need so massively reduced that. I need to clean out the cupboard that was in - and then transfer a few other items off my open shelving into it - so there's more space when I unpack the dishwasher and everything can stay neat. I realised I delay doing the washing and the dishwasher as if everything is clean I don't have enough space to put it away! Oops! I still have a double wide kitchen cabinet to go through - I don't think a lot will leave from there but hopefully enough will. I need to find a sturdy crate or donatable box to put it in as I let it go. Unless it's trash - in which case that can just depart...
Need to make myself carry on now. I keep saying to myself - whether I end up staying or selling this will make the house so much more pleasant to be in. I regret not doing this earlier in life - but I was just too overwhelmed to do so.
Beautiful weather here. DD is going swimming shortly. I need to water my seedling tomoorow.
I wrote the above at lunchtime - hadn't realised I hadn't posted it.
Had a good day overall. Watched some gardening stuff on youtube. Made a cottage pie. Caught up with my Mum on the phone. Did some more decorating in the room of doom which is well on the way to becoming a white walled palace aka potential art and yoga room. Whether I sell or stay - that's a major improvement. Tomorrow I want to do a final check that there's sufficient coverage - and if there is I will need to hoover in there and then decide what to put back into the room and what still needs to go. I'll also need to hang some pictures.
My £5 roman blind brackets have arrived - so I'm hoping I can persuade someone to put my £11 down from £50 roman blind up for me. May see if my cleaner will on Wednesday. (She took down my shelves and curtain pole for me... ) She is ace.
I've booked to go swimming outdoors tomorrow and the day after. It's included in my gym membership which is great. Hopefully that will do me good - and be a balance of activity between house focus - and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Hope you are all doing well.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Love it Blackcats - you tell him. If it 'fits your container' your golden...
I am completely exhausted now - but need a shower really and need to scrub any paint off myself. I have it on my hands and arms and face... and that's just what I can see...
I put 4 things in a bag to go to charity that got missed earlier so I've started my next lot. My plan is to continue decluttering tomorrow and Monday and then drop another lot at charity on Tuesday am. Going to one near a supermarket today worked well as I could load up my trolley and use that to get it from my car to the place. DD helped too which was nice.
My cat seems to be coming in later afternoon at the moment. Not sure where he's spending the rest of his time. He's been out and come back again this evening but will go out shortly I expect.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

You've done amazingly well, you are inspiring me to get back on with it again.
Enjoy the swimming, outdoor swimming in this weather sounds fab."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Our outdoor swimming place has been going through a refurb so hasn’t reopened yet - a shame as I bet they’d have made a fortune this weekend! Hopefully might be open by the time we return from hols - then for me it’s just a case of motivating myself to go!Great progress on the decluttering and tidying - I’ve found that having place neater and tidier over the past few months has really reminded me how much I loved it when we first got here.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks Beanie, Jwil and EH
The paint has dried really well and the room looks great. So pleased. After I get back from swimming - I'll pull up all the protective floor covering and give the room another hoover. Then I need to stage the room. The fun bit...
Need to remember to water stuff outside too. May do that before I go out to avoid losing my seedlings altogether.
After my swim, I'll need to focus back on decluttering as that will make the biggest difference to the space. EH - I'm already falling more in love with the place... but keeping saying to myself - whether I stay or go - making it better and reducing clutter to a threshold I can cope with is a massive win.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

incredible progress! room of doom to sanctuary! am so impressed.
I have not done anywhere near as much, but did achieve tip and cs run, mainly from mum's house, and then had a good go at decluttering a couple of boxes from the loft at my house whilst I was seeking out the summer clothes. 1 bag for cs, 1 tip run done with, as you had, small electrical stuff, and some things for the new flat, brand new pillows unopened and a light that just needs a shade added located and transferred to my folks, which is near the flat-to-be.2 -
also got my car cleaned whilst meeting a couple of friends for a short walk. Having a car full of scrappy bits is a bit stressful at the moment - who knows why? I've had an untidy car most of my life, but I guess it's the only place that is mine at the moment and private, and it is being a real workhorse just now. I am picking DD up from the airport tonight and it's much nicer in a clean car!2

Brilliant job with all your decluttering! I could really do with doing a declutter so you’ve already got me thinking of what I know could go. I wish i was better at keeping up wit it. Instead I leave it for a couple of years then something spurs me on and I have a frenzied clear out!
