    Have you adjusted the dial?
Options are 2, 4 or 6 degrees.  Thermometers read over 6 on any setting.
What's the make/model of fridge. Forget the meat thermometer, and as far as the fridge thermometer is concerned you need to leave it the fridge long enough to make sure the reading is accurate. Every time you open the fridge to check you're just adding warm air in.

If you really want to monito the temps then get yourself one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Elitech-Temperature-Recorder-Readings-RC-5/dp/B07HMPJCW2/ref=sr_1_5
  • Fridge thermometer reads 9 degrees when door first opened in morning.
  • Following feedback on here, I contacted Appliances Direct and asked them to send an engineer to verify the temperature so I could reject the fridge.  The appointment has come through but its not untill 2nd Dec which is then beyond the 30 days.  Does thids mean I can then no longer reject the fridge?

No. You reported the fault when you found it and that was before the expiry of the thirty day period. So you can still reject it if necessary.

We had a new frost-free (it's the only way to go) fridge freezer delivered last week. We were advised to leave it for four hours before even plugging it in. Did you receive that same advice? We left it six hours, just to be sure. Last time we had a fridge delivered it was 24 hours so that's improved greatly. We'd also been struggling to keep food fresh and cool for a while because our old fridge expired suddenly one day and of course nobody was able to deliver a new one immediately.

I know it's basic but did you ensure that all the packing materials were removed from the appliance and does it have a small space all around the exterior so it can operate correctly? (Our old one didn't, sadly.) Did you also read the instructions that came with the fridge? Our new one actually has a dial inside the fridge section. It says 'cool' on the left, 'cooler' in the middle and 'cold' on the right side and you can manipulate the temperature to suit your own requirements. Does yours have anything similar somewhere? Having had our old one for many years, we've realised that so many improvements have been made to fridge freezers nowadays - such as our new one can be moved by one person and doesn't feel heavy at all and the pipes at the back which always got dusty and were a big pain are now covered.

We love our new FF, it's much quieter than our old one and so far, so good. It's working like a dream.

If we thought it wasn't working properly though, we'd have no problem having someone out to have a look at it. Just in case we hadn't done something that we should have done. It's far better than having all the faff of sending it back and having to organise another one.

I think it's the best thing to do, even though you have to wait until next week. I hope it's going to prove to be something minor so you don't have to be without a fridge again, though. Good luck!

Yep, like you we left it 6 hours.  Read the instructions, plenty of space at back and sides and open space above to ceiling.
Only controlls inside are selecting the temperature.  Even at 2 degrees the fridge is too warm.  I suspect they'll try and say the fridge is too full which is rubbish.  There's nothing saying what volume of food you can put in and if that was an issue then the design should have fewer shelves and less space to put stuff.  I think if they sell a fridge with shelves then it's a fair assumption that the shelves can be used.

This was an American style fridge, slimmer and more shallow than most.  Having researched the design, I have found a few models from 'different' manufacturers which are pretty much the same size and layout.  I guess they all come out of the same factory, just with slightly different trim.  They're all at the very cheap end of the market and I just feel there's something inherently wrong with the design.  May just have to sell the children so we can afford a Bosch next.

Except if they are so full that the cool air can not circulate round.

One of the most common causes of a warm fridge is overfilling it with food. Air can't circulate properly when you stuff your fridge to the rafters, making it hard for your system to maintain a safe food storage temperature.

Have you tried it with less food?  Don’t have it full when they come to examine it.
  • You need to place a container of water in the fridge, let is stand long enough to have its heat absorbed into the fridge then test the temperature of the water with a digital thermometer with probe. That's the only proper way to test fridge temperatures.
