Supplier insisting on testing faulty fridge before proceeding

Greetings.
We had our new fridge freezer delivered on 1st November.
However, we tested the temperature inside using a fridge thermometer and of raw chicken using a meat thermometer. The readings fluctuate between 6 degrees and as high as 9 degrees for the fridge and the meat inside.
Since food in a fridge should be kept below 5 degrees and I am within 30 days of recieving the item, I have contacted the seller to reject the fridge and get a full refund as the fridge is not fit for purpose.
They rang this morning to say that they need the fridge manufacturer to come and verify the fault before the will proceed.
Is this allowed?
They suggested I email their legal department
We need this sorting ASAP as were struggling storing food and the kids are always hungry...
Thanks

Within the first 30 days, the retailer has the right to have the product inspected to confirm the fault.Rik4321 said:Greetings.

Why would you imagine it wasn't? The firm will incur a significant cost in collecting the item, assuming the fault is confirmed, so they are fully entitled to check first.0 -
OK thanks. Couldn't find anything about it on MSE or in Which and assumed it would be mentioned there if it was the case.0

Have you adjusted the dial?1

You didn't think they would want to verify that it actually had a fault before accepting a requested return? Seriously?Rik4321 said:OK thanks. Couldn't find anything about it on MSE or in Which and assumed it would be mentioned there if it was the case.
No free lunch, and no free laptop

The retailer has a right to confirm a fault exists at any time, not just within 30 days.powerful_Rogue said:
