so my 2 year deal @ BT is coming for renewal in 20 days time
many thanks
i
currently pay £30 per month for a poultry 20-25mbps, but thats all we
can get (no FTTP) in our rural location, and there arent many
alternatives other than the big players
We have had
loads of issues over the years and 100% of them are related to the
paucity of the copper wire down the road thats about 1.5 miles from the
cabinet - ie all due to open reach
So - given
the main factor with our speed / issues are the open reach wire which is
the same regardless of ISP, do you suggest i just go with the cheapest
alternative?
- I called BT to haggle and they will drop from my current 30 to £26 pcm - 24 mth
- Plusnet are £22 pcm - 18 mth
- Sky are £23 pcm - 18 mths
- Voda are £22 pcm, but including a reclaim voucher this is the equivalent of a little under £17 pcm (24 mth)
PS
we live in an old old farm house with thick walls....any experience with the Voda router?
i read the plusnet router is essentially a rebadged BT Hub so same as current?
Sky router any good?

With regards to the thick walls / wifi reception issues within the farm house I would suggest setting up a mesh network to bounce the signal around the property.
Given the slow connection I wouldn't go for anything too fancy but tp link have some good products which are probably on Black Friday deals at the moment.0 -
yes i have used TP link home plugs to connect to rooms far away, for years, thanks0

We switched from BT to Vodafone a couple of years ago with a similar deal. The vodafone wifi signal seems much the same as BT was, and we've been happy enough that we're about to renew with Vodafone for another 24 months.
