Hi
I bought a second hand Macbook last month and wished I hadn't.
I had a cheap Lenova but it worked perfectly.
On quite a few sites I am getting a red triangle Not Secure and https in red.
Some I can get into after getting a message your connection is not private, but after I click advanced I get in.
But Love holidays and other websites, I cannot get in at all.
Also last week I bought a 50in TV Toshiba TV with internet, and the same thing is happening on Love holidays.
On all my friend's phones Love holidays works perfectly and I book a holiday on their phones.
Can I do something on settings?
I am not really computer savvy.
I am an expat living in Egypt.
Thanks

Is the Macbook running the most recent possible version of macOS?
Is the date and time correctly set in System Preferences? (Incorrect date/time can sometimes cause problems with security certificates for websites)

I use a MacBook and the LoveHolidays site seems fine, certificate is valid until January. As above, check your date/time.2

If the same thing is happening on the TV then how is the issue the fault of the MacBook?2

Good point, well made.2

Are you using bookmarks to get to the sites and if so, do they have http:// in front of them or https://
If you search for the site and then click in the result, does that work correctly.1 -
Thanks for your replies.
The time and date are correct.
I looked and I have OS X EL CAPITAN version 10.11.6.
I have MacBook Pro 15inch late 2011.
I went into System Preferences and it says I have one update available.
It doesn't give a name.
Should I update?
I use both bookmarks and Google search but get the same result. On both I am getting red https
I thought it was my Etisalat router as Love holidays doesn't work on the Macbook or TV, but it is working fine with my friends phones.
Thanks for your help.

It looks like it should be possible to upgrade your machine to macOS 10.13 High Sierra (via the App Store) - that may well resolve the security certificate issues.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1

Thanks MSE
The app store gives a list of updates including update for OS X EL, but doesn't mention High Sierra.
I had forgotten when I last posted, 2 weeks ago I did update something from the App store.
When I restarted the computer I couldn't log in with my password and had to go to a shop to get back online with a new password.
I think I will go back and ask him to update.
Thanks.0 -
High Sierra might not show as an update in the App Store as such - try searching for High Sierra in the App Store as a standalone app - or use this link:Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com2

MSE
I downloaded High Sierra.
Loveholidays is working and all the other sites I couldn't get into.
The red warning is not showing.
Thank you very much.1
