Okay if it is a immersion heater what will be the best way to keep costs down
have it on a few hours a day turn it off at night0 -
Is there solar panels on the roof ? Did you check to see if you have an immersion heater/electric feed to your tank ?0
-
No I didn’t check I know it’s the water tank using the electric as when I turned it off at the mains The meter cost per a hour went down to almost a quarter of what it was0
-
There’s no solar panels the building is a 1970s one0
-
So now you have switched that off see what tomorrow brings as in will you get any hot water, it's a learning curve trial and error0
-
You could also take some photographs of the switches, cables and anything else that looks like it's related to the water system, and post them for us to see the setup - that might make it easier to comment if someone recognises the system you have.0

Ok I’m upload some now0

Thats a timer to set the times you want heating and or water to be on, the water is heated by an immersion heater on top of the cylinder, on the last but one photo marked water heater keep that off, it's the immersion heater in case the communal doesn't heat the cylinder up enough. On the timer you can set what time of day you want the heating and hot water on and off. Somewhere in the house is a thermostat that you can set for the temperature0
