Are Life Time Trusts worth it?

This makes interesting reading for me as recently my Dad was looking to update his will after my mum died. I started looking at local solicitors and the next thing I know he has spoken to some Pension bloke recommended by a neighbor (he lives in an Managed Apartment block) and had already paid him a £250 deposit and there was talk of extras like ring fencing finances using a trust. I looked this guy up and his website was basic and mentioned a Ltd company that was about to cease after just 1 yr of trading and registered to some random address in London when he operates in the Midlands. Apparently used to work for Planning Bee (apparently nothing to do with Pension Bee). Found him on LinkedIn and no mention of Planning Bee but main role was Equity Release and wills seemed to be a side hussle. I got my Dad to request his money back as it just all sounded rather suspect. He got the deposit back and I am now making sure he uses a local solicitor who actually only charge about £50 more than what he was quoted by the 1 man band with no legal qualification.0
