https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ideal-Classic-FF330-FF340-171461/dp/B01GE1JQDAThat's all very well, but OP needed it fitting then & there, but that is still an eye watering mark upMakes me trust my gas fitter more, last year my igniter was getting worn away, and he advised a replacement, he however gave me the part number & told me where cheapest was available online. I duly bought one, and he fitted it this month during the annual servicingWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray2 -
Weird that he only charged £90 for fitting it. That's what my RGI would charge for an hour, so he's only seemingly overcharged for the part. if you are going to rip people off, do it properly! No free lunch, and no free laptop

That is OK if you want a cheap unbranded replacement. You can even get a used one from eBay for 20 quid if you want.fryedslyce said:

However if you are looking for an official Ideal replacement fan it will cost you three times as much.0 -
Supply and fit always has a mark up, the engineer has to go and get the part for one thing.
DH charges £75 to fit a smart controller system like hive ( or £60 if doing a boiler service at same time too) .
If the customer wants him to get it for them then he adds £20 to the price for his time in fetching it. He gives them the option, shows them the best price online and leaves it up to them.2 -
and if he buys it and something goes wrong with it quick then he's on the hook for sorting it. but if you buy it and it caks out next week then thats on you. he just fitted it.NannaH said:Supply and fit always has a mark up, the engineer has to go and get the part for one thing.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
