December 2022 Grocery Challenge

I've got into a bit of a muddle with December spends and Christmas food spending pot. For example cheese and biscuits are technically from Christmas budget but didn't get eaten and so will be on next week's meal plan. Likewise mince pie ice cream, frozen prawn ring, sausage rolls ..... a swede etc etc etc
so I'm going to take the easy way out and say I am budget neutral this month.
See you all next year

The slicer talk reminds me of my only remaining wedding gift, an electric carving knife, still in use nearly 40 years later. Do they still make them?
I use it if I make sandwiches for a buffet, cuts them very neatly.7 -

Thanks @KajiKita. Much appreciated. I have, but it wasn’t my finest moment.
@JIL no idea, I’m sorry to say. I haven’t seen an electric carving knife for years.
I have a small spend to declare from yesterday. We spent the day at a friend’s and popped into L!dl on the way home to buy some peppercorn sauce to go with the steak I’d defrosted for dinner. Anyway, while we were there, I noticed a basket of YS bags of red chillies being sold at 20p a pack, so went a little mad and picked up 5. They’re normally 49p and you usually get 3 chillies/60g in each pack. Naturally, when we went through the self-service checkout, DH managed to ring one up at full price. Fortunately I spotted it before we left the store, so got us a refund. £3.40 spent in the end.
When I got home, I chopped the chillies in my mini-chopper, spread them out in a ziplock bag and shoved it into the freezer. Hopefully there’s enough fresh chilli there to give a small kick to meals well into the summer.
The above brings our total spend to £133.80/£142.20, leaving £8.40 for the rest of the month. We’re off today to DH’s best friend’s for New Year, so I’ll probably spend that on ingredients for our contribution to the party (I’m making two Carrot & Cashew Nut Roasts, since several guests will be vegetarian).

Well done on reaching your SW target - that's a great achievement. I've been a target member since about 2012 although currently just outside of top end after a 2 week All Inclusive holiday and Christmas last month. Will hopefully be back in range when I weigh again on Wednesday.

Well done @gill5blue. That is amazing. How long did that take. I really want to lose weight but never manage to stay on track. I need to be more disciplined. You are an inspiration to us all.
Well thats it then. Well over budget. Didnt anticipate any christmas entertaining and we have ended up entertaining four days over new year. £70.86 Spent today in Sainsburys. So I am declaring for the year. Under the yearly budget but well over for December. Over to 2023 where I am really going to try and spend less. I did manage to stay inside my yearly budget but monthly calculations were rubbish. I will be using 2022 guestimates to inform 2023.

Tapping out from this month - I think I'm at about £150 but there was a big Christmas spend that I'm not counting, and then I got sick and had to order food from Deliveroo to get me through it. I'm going to write it off and start again tomorrow!Grocery challenge September 2022: £230.04/£200

Oh as usual I am in a muddle. I will have a better January as I have now put a record in my signature. I think I am around target as I had another £50 come into the budget yesterday. I am going to finish December today but without a lot of searching I don't have accurate figures. If I take my Tesco delivery and put that as January spend then I am ok with the December budget. Well done everyone see you in January x*Stop giving up what you really want for what you want now*
