Ebay delivery estimate

I purchased an item on the 15th, with delivery estimate of 17th-19th.  Well it's now the 19th, checked tracking and says it was despatched on the 17th (fine) but now the delivery estimate is the 22nd⁈

I've not had delivery estimates change after the order on eBay before; is this a new thing?

[I'm also annoyed it's not here by now because it certainly could have been - I've had Evri deliver things within 1 or 2 days plenty of times - both as a sender and as a recipient - which is why I thought the original delivery estimate was reasonable.  That's just a little vent I suppose.]

Is the listing still active?  Possibly the expected delivery if you purchase now?

It was an estimate rather than a guarantee. Most things do turn up within estimated timescales, but it's not unheard of for estimates to change based on circumstances - there may be a hold up en-route and it's been reflected in your updated estimate. The 19th was a Friday - the 20th was a Saturday  - the 21st is a Sunday - and the 22nd is a Monday - so in reality in terms of working days, your estimate has slipped by only 1 day. (Saturdays usually get treated differently by couriers for those that have paid a premium service).

Even with your original estimate - had it been delivered on Monday the 22nd and not updated in Ebay - it's still only missing the estimate, rather than any guarantee. I imagine that the systems at the courier talk to ebay - and if there's a delay it automatically updates as you've seen.

Your calendar appears to be a day out ;)  Saturday was the 19th, the 22nd is Tuesday, a week after buying it.  As I said, I've never had a delivery estimate change after purchase before, but if it is some new thing particularly with eBay's integrated postage options then fair enough.  That seems a bit fairer for the sellers anyway.

Listing is still active but the new estimate was on the actual order information.

Did you pay immediately as estimated date depends on payment date. I’ve never seen an estimated delivery date change after being paid for before.

I blame posting after midnight :) I get easily confused at this age...

    Yes, it was a BIN.
  • So it turns out I was slightly confused.  The order info does in fact still have the original delivery estimate *facepalm*  It's actually the feedback page that says the 22nd, for the 'did it arrive on time?' (I originally noticed when leaving feedback for something else).

That'll teach me for posting on a lack of sleep.

Though the question now is, why the discrepancy?  The date for 'arriving on time' has usually been the last date of the delivery estimate, in my experience.

Okay, new information, new question if anyone can help, please:

    The Evri eBay tracking goes

    Tracking number provided
    Order placed
    Carrier Receipt
    Dropped off at the ParcelShop
    Collected from the ParcelShop

Which of those is the seller actually dispatching it?  I assumed 'carrier receipt' but now I'm not sure, because who is dropping it off at the Parcelshop?

Edit: never mind, Evri's own site says they have it on the date that corresponds with it being dropped off.  Which is today, a week after ordering.  Now I am very miffed.

So it's only arrived at the parcel shop today? Meaning the seller only just dropped it off?

If so - they must have created the label at home, but for whatever reason sat on it for a few days before toddling over to the drop-off point?

Yep, over 5 days.  So eBay thinks it was dispatched on time but they didn't actually post it until the (extended) latest delivery date.  What a cheek!
