Wizz air compensation

Hi everyone

I had an outbound flight delayed from LGW to MIL on 2nd October by more than 3 hours - they just replied to me saying they will give us 8 EUR per person! We had a 4 day itinerary so we missed most of the 1st day including some activities I had booked - do I have any rights to claim anything?

What was the reason for the delay?  Compensation awards only apply if the cause wasn't "extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken", so you'd need to establish airline liability to qualify for that.

If the airline can't be held liable, you might find that your travel insurance covers the cost of missed activities, although that's quite a long shot?

The reason they gave was just that the flight arrived late from previous destination...no specific reason given...

If you're hoping to argue a case for compensation from the airline then you'll need to establish more detail, such as what caused the previous flight to be delayed, so you'd have to push back and seek further information from them.  'Knock-on' delays can sometimes be regarded as extraordinary circumstances but not always, so the more detail you can ascertain the better....
  • What is the 8 euros for -is it for food  while you waited for next flight ?

How late was arrival at the destination. It is that which determines compensation entitlement, not delay in takeoff.

That's a good point...I need to check this actually I should have made a note of the time we arrived - how can I find this out now? I have the flight details...I emailed them to check cause of delay but they will probably take weeks to reply or maybe not even reply at all...

Date and flight number is generally all that's needed to start looking into it online.

Hey everyone just wanted to update you all - so I sent an email asking for the actual cause of the delay - they just replied yesterday saying that they will credit 250 EUR to my bank account in 14-20 days - what should I do now?
