Vodaphone sign up queries

Hi Can any one help? I signed up for Vodaphone broadband on their website and was expecting them to ask at some point for my bank details to either pay up front (for the full term of my contract) or by Direct Debit monthly. 
To my surprise I wasn't asked for anything like that. 
I've received an email confirming my order and details of how much I will pay monthly and the date I will go live. 
Surprisingly I've also been told they are sending an Openreach engineer on my going live date.
Is this normal?

Openreach attending can be normal if you don't have an active BT line installed/active/can't be reconnected remotely.

The payment thing, well keep some money aside.for when they do notice.
